The generative movie poster thing was kind of a cute gimmick the first time, but after you saw it once you understood it and knew what was coming

It also had the balloon-y slop aesthetic that feels so tied to the preset that it kind of pulled me out of the 90s vibe they were going for

I'm still a little torn on their use of generative AI for some of the pieces

At the beginning they take a picture of you, and at some of the spots when you badge in your face is generatively put on a movie poster or something like that

There were also some animations that were clearly made by AI

It represents a lot of hard work by artists and performers who really wanted to put on a fun experience for a wide range of visitors, and they really pulled it off

I'm tempted to go back and actually try to "solve" the mystery
aturls.bsky.social
There's also a "hidden" speakeasy, which they had the good sense to put on the second floor near what would be the "end" of the experience if you were going through linearly

I didn't see anybody get rowdy but at least one tipsy mom gently pushed my son out of the way so she could badge in on a spot

Part of the narrative is that you're an investigator trying to solve a mystery, but that's not required to enjoy the experience

There's an element of gamification, with RFID wrist bands and a level system where you progress by scanning and interacting with the pieces

They definitely captured the 1990s megaplex movie theater, which was at its peak at that time

This wasn't specific to Kansas City, but AMC was headquartered here and we had a lot

I have a soft spot for this aesthetic because my dad was an architect who worked on a number of AMC projects back then

Atlas9 can be somewhat accurately described as "Meow Wolf Kansas City"

Geographically, philosophically, and aesthetically

Whoa

If you're a very specific kind of nerd, the Logue SDK part is huge

The looper is expanded with slicing and export. OSC3 performs new tricks (like modulation).

But most importantly, the microKORG2 now runs logue SDK -- right out of the gate with a bunch of @sinevibes.bsky.social goodness. It sounds like the secret sauce the microKORG sequel needed:
Two by two: microKORG2 2.0 splits, slices, rewards - and does Sinevibes - CDM Create Digital Music
The microKORG2 had the immediacy and cute factor of the microKORG, but even at its still-economical price, we needed more. And wow, did we get it. The logue SDK means this is an adorable synth that ca...
