Time for a little introduction ✨️
A Searing Faith, my debut, follows Rena as she tries to find out what happened to her hometown

🔥 first in series
🔥 epic fantasy & mystery
🔥 a hint of steampunk
🔥 found family
🔥 dealing with loss & trauma
🔥 queer-normative world
🔥 low (to no) magic
🔥 soft female MC
Photo of a copy of A Searing Faith by Audrey Martin lying on a wooden table. The cover shows an illustration of a young girl with long, brown hair looking towards the left, wearing a beige dress and a green vest and holding a carved wooden bird figurine. The background is dark blue with stylised red to pink flames and dead tree branches.

Being in a bookclub is fun because people will talk about scenes you have no recollection of and it just makes you realise how often your brain switches off when you're reading 🫠

I genuinely cannot express how vital it is that you train yourself to recognize AI-generated images and videos for your own good because none of this is going away and many, many people are counting on you to fall for their shit

Would anyone be able to help me with this error on Draft2Digital?
When I upload my manuscript it's telling me it doesn't pass the EPubCheck due to an ERROR(OPF-029). Has anyone dealt with this error before? I've tried looking it up but couldn't find anything specific

Thank you. I'll try to look into what they mention in the replies but i'm not sure it'll help me :/ the string of numbers d2d gives me as file names is definitely not from my files so somewhere along the way Atticus or D2D renamed the files to that and might have done something else to them ???

Can’t decide what to buy on Prime Day?

Try: absolutely nothing, and then go support indie bookstores instead 📚

And maybe it wouldn't be if I was a better organised person but here we are ...
Also a big blind spot I've had about publishing a translation is all the stuff besides the story that also have to be translated 😬 like the goddamn map ☠️

Not having released a book in over 2 years also means I had completely forgotten how annoying and time-consuming it is to publish a book on multiple platforms 😮‍💨

I was think more interview style studies 🤔 I don't know how different languages would show up on scans but that's also a very interesting aspect! I don't know how often that's done in linguistics though
audreywrites.bsky.social
Especially since there is barely any media being translated into Luxembourgish so we automatically consume all our media in a non-native language but not everyone choses the same non-native language. Would be interesting to see how that changes someone's language output.
audreywrites.bsky.social
(I didn't notice that I wasn't following you back yet 🙈🙈)

I would love to read some studies about this actually, how people think in different languages if they move countries and if it depends on the age when you move or other factors, or how media consumption changes your inner monologue.
audreywrites.bsky.social
4th 😬 but it is the last language I learned fluently. I do think 50/50 in Luxembourgish and English (which is fascinating cause technically french is the first language I spoke but I never think in it even if I speak it semi-regularly) but all my media consumption is in English.
audreywrites.bsky.social
I have too many feelings about language and what does and doesn't sound right 😔
It's probably cause I don't have my social media in german that it just feels really wrong to have anything about book promo in german. But also English has established itself so much in my life that I think in it now 🙃
audreywrites.bsky.social
Was thinking about making a trope map thing but then do I translate the tropes? That feels horrible?? "Gefundene Familie"??? I would rather set my eyes on fire
audreywrites.bsky.social
Even though I'm fluent in german, having to write promo material for the german translation release makes me want to tear my skin apart ☠️
No idea why having to be on the internet in any language besides English feels so horrible to me. Everything just sounds bad and not right 😔
