If you've a partner, work out a code phrase - it helps. "I think I need an ibuprofen" is mine. It tells her while we're in polite company that I've hit my limit and that I need to retreat for a bit. The one I've heard lately, to some amusement, is "I'm all out of spoons." Same idea.

Yep - the way I've heard it expressed before is that "Democrats worry that someone who needs help isn't getting it, Republicans worry that someone who doesn't need help is getting it, and libertarians worry that someone else is getting help."

This is why the GOP eschews empathy while actual humans embrace it. Humans understand that other humans, regardless of their beliefs, politics, socioeconomic class, or perceived "usefulness," still feel pain, still suffer, still die when you steal healthcare from them.

The GOP couldn't care less.
