This year I became the chair of the Democratic Party in Utah's second largest county.

I'm working to build a real party from the neighborhood up, but we don't get support from the national party.

Yet another poll that has Trump in the mid-30s approval.

It really does seem like support is falling quickly.
I check in at Fifty Plus One courtesy of @gelliottmorris.com every day. One of the polls added to the average today is a "Wow. Holy shit that's bad" one.

This will significantly hurt all my home states (Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah) which rely heavily on tourism to our national parks.
National parks have SO MANY people from other countries (since they get real vacations!)

And they spend a lot of money on hotels, food, souvenirs, etc.

This is unbelievably dumb, it will destroy entire tourist towns

Turns out violently threatening members of a congress worked.

Completely undemocratic

Does anyone on here have experiencing recruiting progressive sheriffs? This is one element of being a county chair that is a problem I don't know how to solve.

Will say it again: We the People don’t need (& shouldn’t want) our military to take unilateral action to remove a President. That would be a coup. We need our military to remain professional, disciplined, subservient to civil authority — & quietly stay in the barracks when ordered into the streets.

Looks like the Utah GOP is potentially going to expand the state supreme court as they also challenge the maps that blew a hole in their gerrymander.
Gov. Cox implies he will be watching the legislature on any bills targeting the judiciary.

The governor says he does support expanding the Utah Supreme Court, and the Utah Court of Appeals. He thinks amount of litigation and ruling timelines are too much. Same for district court (needing resources)

Just typed poli-psycho instead of poli-psych and apparently the institutionalist in me can't help but take a swipe and political psychology.

If you are on BBC live, you know what to do

(I don't even think this statement would be controversial among experts. He's openly monetizing the office and making literally billions of dollars!)
NEWS --> BBC confirms to me that they did edit a line out of historian @rutgerbregman.com's speech. It called Trump "the most openly corrupt president in US history."

BBC also confirms this was done on the advice of lawyers. So Trump's threats worked.

Trump’s Fury at BBC Gets Unnerving Results with Pro-MAGA Edit Stunner
First, British Broadcasting Corporation execs resigned after Trump complained about a segment. Now the BBC edited out a line from a historian that was critical of Trump. Where does this end?

Send them all to the Hague
ICE deported a woman who owned a home in the US for 30 years. A judge banned ICE from deporting her to Sierra Leone where she had been tortured, so it deported her to Ghana, which kidnapped her and sent her back Sierra Leone anyway. ICE is part of this illegal conspiracy.

Its still early in the stage of research, but I am convinced that the death of the institutional church helped undermine pluralistic conservatism
The decline of religion as a source of meaning in people's lives remains underrated as a factor shaping society. The need doesn't go away - they just seek it out elsewhere in (often false) health/wellness beliefs, (often highly polarized/conflictual) politics, etc. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/25/o...

The answer to "why don't they just get rid of Johnson" is they can't agree on someone else, so they are using levers to try to undermine him.
Five discharge petitions have succeeded since Johnson became speaker.

That’s more than the prior three decades, says Politico: www.politico.com/news/2025/11...

This rule holds on the internet even for supposedly progressive people. People are willing to say something about Mormonism that they would never say about any other religious minority.
There's no possible good reason but I'm wondering what the bad reason is for so many college kids thinking that basic rules about human interaction just do not apply to Mormons
this does seem to happen an awful lot, doesn't it
