Would be a good time to shut down Dreamforce. If I have friends who are still speaking there, this is a good reason to cancel.

Dems are so worried about Free and Fair Elections in 2026 that they're missing the deliberate movement to make that irrelevant by turning Congress into the Duma, a toothless, powerless rubber-stamp body.
badfutures.com
Exactly this. It looks more and more like Congressional Republicans are strategically using the Shutdown to cede Appropriations power to the Executive. (I won't say President, because we're currently ruled by a Junta of Miller, Vought, & Bessent. But they'll turn on each other eventually.)
pwnallthethings.bsky.social
They don't even need to do anything complicated to defend it. They can nuke the filibuster and end the shutdown without even negotiating with Ds, but instead are choosing to turn their whole institution into soggy tissue paper by ceding the appropriations power to the executive branch

I think at this point I think we just have to assume that every US Congressperson over 70 is a sock puppet of some form or another.

Among other things, Sarah’s theory explains this interaction which made me want to die the other day
Rep. congressperson Virginia Foxx quote RTing Sen Mazie Hirono, who tweeted that republicans are lying. Foxx’s post reads: Congratulations on the ratio - you’ve earned it. By the way, you voted to shut down the government. Jordan Uhl posting Virginia Foxx’s age (82) and saying “Ok what are we doing here”

Agreed, Matt. Most Americans don’t really care if it’s Congress appropriating the funds constitutionally or the President appropriating unconstitutionally and spending illegally. As long as the money flows. I fear the Shutdown is going to prove to be a dangerous (& ultimately disastrous) strategy.
badfutures.com
I argued against the shutdown because of this & other possibilities. Shutdowns are probably a tool for a different, older game with different rules. And it’s increasingly clear that Congressional Dems & their consultants do not understand that the rules of the game have shifted out from under them.

There is a risk here for Democrats (and the American people), though. If Trump decides he can just appropriate and spend money without Congress, then the government shutdown could, in some form, become a permanent condition.

Trump says he’s ordered Hegseth to pay the troops during the government shutdown.

“We have identified funds to do this, and Secretary Hegseth will use them to PAY OUR TROOPS.”
Trump: Chuck Schumer recently said, "Every day gets better" during their Radical Left Shutdown. I DISAGREE! If nothing is done, because of
"Leader" Chuck Schumer and the Democrats, our Brave Troops will miss the paychecks they are rightfully due on October 15th. That is why I am using my authority, as Commander in Chief, to direct our Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to use all available funds to get our Troops PAID on October 15th. We have identified funds to do this, and Secretary Hegseth will use them to PAY OUR TROOPS. I will not allow the Democrats to hold our Military, and the entire Security of our Nation, HOSTAGE, with their dangerous Government Shutdown. The Radical Left Democrats should OPEN THE GOVERNMENT, and then we can work together to address Healthcare, and many other things that they want to destroy. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
DONALD J. TRUMP
PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

I don't understand. When he Passion'd, he was Jesus the Grey. When he Resurrects, he would come to us as Jesus the White.

I'm not watching either way, but de-aging isn't needed when lore works. consequence.net/2025/10/pass...

Canonically, the Muppets are a bunch of Dirty Hippies who just want to Put On a Show. After their Hollywood Days they probably *moved to Portland* and built a community theater in partnership with Reed College.

They wouldn’t just be behind the protests, they’d be down there with them.

All Tron movies should be set in the early 1980s, just as all Bond movies should be set between 1955-1970. Some characters and concepts are Of Their Time and we really shouldn’t fight that.

The United States is currently being ruled by a Junta of Miller, Vought, and Bessent. Vance is kept on the outs as Court Jester while they feed the old man a steady diet of AI-generated videos to keep him pliable.

Oh god yes, they borrowed so much from visionOS for this UX redesign. Tim Cook is determined to leave a Legacy with Apple, but I'm not sure he's going to get the legacy he wants.
badfutures.com
But honestly, I suspect iPadOS 26 may be a better working environment now, because Liquid Glass was clearly meant as an iOS UX. But it makes no sense in the current form on macOS. I blame OS-convergence fetishism.
badfutures.com
I feel like they're gonna have to roll a lot of this back by the .5 release. Complaints are widespread. I don't know what I expected. Apple has been shit at software for over a decade now.
badfutures.com
Like, part of me wants to see if iPadOS 26 is actually a better environment for getting work done now. It's that bad.

For the first time, I feel like my Mac is actively fighting me when I try and be productive. And I've been a Mac user for decades.
badfutures.com
It's so bad. The Liquid Glass interface actively gets in the way for seeing parts of the screen, accessing buttons and UI elements, nothing's in any location that makes sense. This goes way beyond just some buggy apps (and there's lots of that too) and aesthetics that make my eyes bleed.
