While temperature increase has an overall pervasive effect on richness, the research highlights that rainfall and its seasonal patterns play a major role in shaping these regional trends.

Warmer, drier and more seasonal forests lost species, while those at higher elevations, less fragmented areas and with faster rates of tree turnover gained them
The Northern Andes and Western Amazon showed an increase, and the Central Andes, Guyana Shield and Central-Eastern Amazon showed a decline

🌸Plant diversity dynamics over space and time in a warming Arctic 🌸

Our new study @nature.com analysed plant diversity change in >2000 tundra plots over 4 decades. We found that plants changed unevenly, mostly driven by warming and biotic interactions.
