Came here to say this, but Jamelle Bouie has this covered. 👇
When the Democratic tent includes candidates like Spanberger and Mamdani, there is no crisis, or fight, for the party. IT’S A COALITION, NOT A POINT ESTIMATE.
i want to repeat this: mamdani and spanberger have run similar campaigns tailored to their respective electorates and it is maddening to watch political journalists attempt to create some broad contrast where none exist
the other thing about this is that there is no reason to pit these candidates against each other? each are good fits for their respective electorates and each shows the value of vigorous campaigns focused on the stated material problems of voters.

DecisionDeskHQ has already heard enough and projects Mamdani as the winner! (I'm going to keep holding my breath and watch the returns come in.)

Abigail Spanberger, dressed in a dark red suit, strolled onto the stage at her victory party in Richmond, Virginia Tuesday night to chants of "Abby" from the crowd after soundly defeating Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears in the state’s governor’s race.

it's time for journos to start asking Johnson meta questions

"Speaker, on 5 occasions last week you said 'I haven't seen it' when asked about news events w/big implications for public policy. Do you ever read the news, and do you agree it's problematic for the Speaker to be so woefully uninformed?"

This is wild.

The full quote is: “I’m sure you’re aware of our connections with the Trump Administration and I’m sure they would be interested in this matter.”

Just a…straight-up threat against a media outlet implying that the federal government would retaliate against them?
“I’m sure you’re aware of our connections with the Trump Administration,” the North Carolina Republican Party's communications director wrote in an email response to us. “I would strongly suggest dropping this story.”

We didn't. Read the story that he wanted dropped:
“Biblical Justice, Equal Justice, for All”: How North Carolina’s Chief Justice Transformed His State and America
Paul Newby, a born-again Christian, has turned his perch atop North Carolina’s Supreme Court into an instrument of political power. Over two decades, he’s driven changes that have reverberated well be...

Slow but steady. Just passed the 40m mark.
"Fusion voting lets one candidate appear on multiple ballot lines. Think of it as multiple pathways to the same destination. A candidate endorsed by both Democrats and a Moderate Party would appear twice on the ballot. Voters choose which line to pull, but both votes count for the same person."
Remember when we had actual competitive Senate elections in most states?

Remember when candidates actually mattered?

People: The moderation debate is missing the big picture!

We're in the era of nothing but D v R matters. And other things should matter.

The moderation debate fiddles with 2% while Democracy’s dimensionality collapses
Presidential vote now determines 98% of House outcomes. One-dimensional partisan conflict is authoritarian-friendly territory. Could fusion voting restore competitive dimensions?

The only way to avert this mutually assured gerrymandering destruction of democracy is....

wait for it...

PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION.

So...

what are we waiting for?

"I listened to this podcast..." haha
And if so, am I wrong to read this as MAGA's version of Obama? An indecisive doofus who's way out of his league?
This president is supposed to be... Obama? Like, an unflattering caricature (always talking basketball, hanging with famous people, etc.)?
I'm watching A House of Dynamite on Netflix. Assuming it's accurate-ish(?), what surprises me most so far is how many nuclear approval procedures are
on an index card or in a three-ring binder.

Obama: "The weird videos of a US president with a crown on his head flying a fighter jet & dumping poop on American citizens - that's not even worth booing about. Because all of that is a distraction from the fact that your situation, your life has not gotten better. They do it so you won't notice"
