This painting emerges from a search for balance within emotional flux. Curved and angular forms drift through layered blues, interrupted by a single warm accent - like feeling surfacing within depression. Structure offers momentary order, yet nothing remains fixed. Stillness and movement coexist, forming an intuitive map of mood shaped by chance, vulnerability, and quiet intention. An abstract painting made of overlapping rectangles and squares in shades of blue, white, and gray. My lisianthus didn't do so well this year. I bought a couple bags of potting soil this year which smelled and looked more like fine shredded mulch. I tried mixing it with soil from my garden, but a lot of my potted flowers didn't do well this past summer...

One of my old paintings from many moons ago. It's hard to believe it's been over 3 decades since I painted this. The memory is so fresh I can smell the paint and it evokes the nostalgia of when my oldest kids were still hanging on to my skirts.

Landscape format in painterly acrylics on mat board. Sky in shades of violet, painted by palette knife and flecked with red and blue. Bottom half is a field of yellows similarly painted by knife and flecked with small touches of blue and red, and with bits of green showing in places. Three sheep stand in the field, their bottom halves contrasting with the yellow, their top halves with the sky. They are lilac with black heads, their bodies painted in broad expressive brushstrokes, their heads, legs and outlines painted in very dark blue, almost black, with palette knife making angular lines and edges. Beyond shape, which show ears, there are no features visible on the dark faces. The left sheep is facing forwards, the middle one is side on turned to the right but head turned to face viewer, and the one on right is further away, facing forwards with head down grazing. The hard edge horizon of field to sky behind the torsos of the sheep rises a little from left to right.
