updated photo of my ✨Meryl Streep physical media collection✨

i currently own a copy of every single thing Meryl Streep has ever been. i’m only missing a tv movie, 2 tv series, a short film and a few documentaries she’s narrated.
photo of my Meryl Streep physical media collection. which takes up two shelves as well as the top part of the shelf itself.

the top part of the shelf features a candle with Meryl’s face on it, the POP box for the Miranda Priestly character, “The Meryl Streep Movie Club” by Mia March book, various VHS’s of Meryl Streep films, a Meryl Streep tarot card deck and the soundtrack cd of Mamma Mia!

the next two shelves has all of Meryl Streep’s films organized by order of release date. on the top shelf there are a few non-packaged movies in cd cases. on the bottom shelf there is a Meryl Streep coffee cup, the aforementioned Miranda Priestly POP figurine and an assortment of documentaries that Meryl Streep is featured in it narrated. also on the bottom shelf is a ceramic ornament of Miranda Priestly propped in front of some Meryl Streep film compilations and a Cards Against Humanity card that reads “Academy Award winner Meryl Streep”

i feel like i’m being annoying by talking about Downton Abbey so much. sorry if i have been.

yes, DA is my favorite show and these movies have cemented themselves as my favorite franchise too. but it’s so much more than that.

so i wrote about why in this letterboxd review if you’d care to read it:
A ★★★★★ review of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale (2025)
For those of you who may not know, I was in an abusive relationship for a while. It took a lot from me and did a lot of damage to me that I’m still working on repairing. I say this to try and explain ...

and god forbid you see a movie in Dolby or IMAX (which i usually do) and you have to suffer through those ads as well….

they condense that yet that awful Coke ad is still obnoxiously long 🤨
bnoahd.bsky.social
it’s like super condensed now 😕 it skips her walking in, skips her wandering the aisles, and just goes straight to her sitting in the theater and saying “AMC we make movies better”

actress Maggie Smith won an Academy Award for playing an actress who didn’t win an Academy Award in California Suite (1978).

i rewatched GOSFORD PARK (2001) yesterday and it’s still amazing! but this is the film that Helen Mirren should have won her Oscar for! her last scene is absolutely devastating and i get chills every time i see it

idk if anyone else can relate but have you ever watched a movie so good that it makes everything else you watch after seem lackluster?

i keep starting movies and stopping them almost immediately bc they’re not Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale… like if i could watch that movie every single day 😭
a photo of a man (Hugh Bonneville in DOWNTON ABBEY: THE GRAND FINALE) is in a tan colored suit and a hat. he’s walking in a field with sheep behind him, farther in the background you can see a manor (Downton Abbey). written above the man in a white type is: Mentally I'm here.

“I didn’t agree with much that he said”

so what you’re saying is you agreed with some of the things he said?

“he was interesting”

so what exactly was “interesting” about his hateful rhetoric?
sallyjenx.bsky.social
I don't think it's simpering praise. He was an interesting man. I didn't agree with much that he said, but he was interesting and he was growing, and his death is a significant loss for those who believe engagement can help bridge disagreements.
notalawyer.bsky.social
there's a weird feedback loop where the media's reaction to kirk's death pushes you to speak more ill of the dead than you otherwise would because it's the only reasonable response to the simpering praise they're heaping on him
bnoahd.bsky.social
just so we’re clear the CEO of this app is telling people they can gtfo for being upset that they’re banning people for calling a nazi a nazi and not being upset he died

lmao okay 👍🏼

saying this about that man but none of the other atrocities that have happened this year is very fucking telling
