It's been really, really nice seeing the Catholic social justice tradition in the US feel like it's empowered to spread its wings again without risking censure after a long time of being suppressed by US Catholic leadership, and it's exactly what I was hoping for from Pope Bob.

And it’s not clear who benefits from any of this. Like these are extremely narcissistic and venal people: What are they getting out of it? The nihilists, sure. But the ones who want something in return? What are they getting? I don’t understand.

And as with much infrastructure, my bet is that sources of funds relies heavily on federal funding which cannot be counted on for the next … however long.

It’s just a disaster in every area.

Earlier I read a lament that Republicans have no legislative agenda — which is true, but shouldn’t be misread to mean they have no *partisan* agenda.

I'm gonna be on repeat about this forever: What is especially dangerous about measles is that it can trigger immunity amnesia. From UCLA Health:

Thing is, by law (lol) specifically the government cannot lay off federal workers for partisan political reasons. Even probationary employees have this protection.

For the record, mifepristone is also prescribed for people suffering a miscarriage.
