1. Duffy is father to 9 kids. I can tell you what his actual concern is: ticket prices.

2. People find flying stressful, and when you are bedeviled by anxiety, you don't want to eat celery.

3. This sounds like . . . Oh, I don't know . . . the gov't forcing us to eat broccoli.
Sean Duffy, the U.S. transportation secretary, has been urging people for the past week to dress and comport themselves better as a way of restoring “civility” to air travel. On Tuesday, he added another item to his list of concerns: the quality of the snacks handed out on commercial flights.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy Wants Healthier In-Flight Snack Options
Sean Duffy, who has been promoting greater decorum among air travelers, said he would like to see choices besides salty pretzels and buttery cookies.

A puzzling decision given that President Trump's mentor was Roy Cohn, a man who died from complications related to AIDS.
1/ ⚠️ Breaking: At CDC, we've been told the US Government will not officially commemorate World AIDS Day this year. No explanation given.

I wrote for @lpeblog.bsky.social about @alybatt.bsky.social's new book—which, I argue, shows how the critique of political economy can allow us to clearly name the social cause of climate catastrophe: capital. lpeproject.org/blog/when-na...
When Nature is Worthless
Under capitalism, the social domination of nature occurs through and is mediated by the commodity form. Certain portions of non-human nature can be valued, but only when they are transformed into…

This administration just wants us to celebrate Thanksgiving in the most traditional ways possible: children ravaged by diphtheria, widespread hunger, and my personal favorite: I shall be crushed by stones as punishment for witchcraft.

Latest story/investigation: "Can you believe how insane RFK, Jr. is and how he is a charlatan, a narcissist, and an unfathomable danger to public health and medicine?!?!"

Me [not reading the story]: "Yup."

What a sad but touching essay. And what an indictment of her horrible cousin, RFK, Jr.

Finally, an observation I'm onboard with:

"I have never encountered a group of people who are more competent, more full of grace and empathy, more willing to serve others than nurses. Nurses should take over."

I'm looking for water that's medium thick.
The Trump administration this week moved to weaken the Clean Water Act and the Endangered Species Act, among other deregulatory moves. If the proposals are finalized and upheld in court, they could reshape U.S. environmental policy for years to come, environmental lawyers and activists said.

When I think there's too much to worry about, there are always prion diseases.

"Experts say that without anyone looking for these deviations from normal . . . cases could easily go unnoticed, & it will be too late to implement public health measures that could mitigate some of these consequences."

When the AMA endorsed Tom Price as HHS Secretary (the first time it had publicly done so), I complained at an all-staff meeting. I was told, "Single-payer health care is never happening; Dr. Price is a good choice."

He lasted 7 months & resigned because of his love of private jet travel on govt $$
Tomorrow, the AMA is giving a platform to Dr. Oz — CMS Administrator destroying Medicare and Medicaid.

Residents can’t freely dissent or the AMA will punish them.

This isn’t “dialogue.” It’s coercion.

We wrote the position statement the AMA won’t.

If you want profs to actually show up for meetings-- send a calendar invitation!
