I’m absolutely posting this over my writing desk. Thank you!

I used to line the cage with newspaper because of this. And once:

Vet: We know some ferrets use litter boxes, so we gave Pooka one.

Me: Oh no. I’m so sorry for the mess.

Vet: Well, he seemed happy.

#31Daysofgraves Day 15: Damaged. St Anne’s Historic Cemetery, Lonaconing Maryland
The top half of an old, weathered tombstone has been carefully propped in front of its bottom half. A bright bouquet of purple, red, and cream flowers has been placed next to it.

An excellent and sobering read.

Everyone agrees that we're currently in a dotcom era-like AI bubble. People disagree what sort of bubble it is.

There are 3 stories one can tell about the dotcom crash: a startup story, a telecom story, and an accounting fraud story.

My take: it's giving Enron

You can't logic your way out of being burnt out. Unless you're me. Who should be able to do it and it's a personal failing that I can't

That’s it! We were shown the statue of Moses, of course, but I was looking around and going “I want a photo of that cool skeleton!” Thank you, the notes are being updates if this shot shows in in a future challenge.

#31Daysofgraves Day 14: Inside. This well-worn stone is part of the inside floor of Bath Abbey, Bath England
A white stone with a skull in front of crossed bones carved into the top. The wording is wearing away to the point that some letters are completely gone, but the name Neadries Baron, the date September (something) 1777, and 57 Years can still be read.

Mother’s from Pittsburgh so I KNOW I’m saying it right. Want do tourists do to it?

That sounds right? We were on a “If this is Tuesday it must be Amalfi” kind of tour.

YAY!!!! We can squee at each other about it!

It’s beautifully written. [flat bottomed barges were] “prone to roll between the waves from starboard to port and back until they reached safe harbor or the bottom of the lake.”

If you buy it you can get an inscribed copy from the author’s favorite indie Schuler Books.

I have yet to see a musical based on a perfectly good 80s-90s movie that isn’t a dire insult to said movie & all audiences. Legally Blonde was equally offensive, stripping Elle of brains to blatantly objectify her *as the big court twist*!

Went to see “Death Becomes Her” on Broadway and for as much as they want to pay themselves on the back for inclusivity and overpriced pride merch, the show itself had gay jokes and this low-level running transphobia throughout, right down to an “I identify as a…” joke that grinds a scene to a halt.

#31Daysofgraves Day 13: Skeleton. I took this during a family trip decades ago, so all I can say is “somewhere in Italy.” #neatravels

Alternating between Flashes of Brilliance by Anika Burgess about the history of photography and Gales of November by John Bacon about the Edmund Fitzgerald & wreck thereof. Both v witty & informative, thus likely to be the next in a long line this year of “get from library, love, buy my own copy”

#31Daysofgraves Day 12: Notable Woman what else can this Janeite offer on this 250th anniversary of her birth but Jane Austen’s tombstone in Winchester Cathedral? “She’s still there,” a guide assured us. “We peeked when we laid some new pipe and rerouted it not to disturb her.” #neatravels
Plain black stone engraved in white. "In Memory of JANE AUSTEN, youngest daughter of the late Revd GEORGE AUSTEN, formerly Rector of Steventon in this County. She departed this Life on the 18th of July 1817, aged 41, after a long illness supported with the patience and the hopes of a Christian. The benevolence of her heart, the sweetness of her temper, and the extraordinary endowments of her mind obtained the regard of all who knew her and the warmest love of her intimate connections. Their grief is in proportion to their affection, they know their loss to be irreparable, but in their deepest affliction they are consoled by a firm though humble hope that her charity, devotion, faith and purity have rendered her soul acceptable in the sight of her REDEEMER."

In this house, we believe:
- love is love
- science is real
- books are magic portals
- pants are always optional
- squirrels are little demons
- the forest accepts you as you are, and for who you will become

#31Daysofgraves Day 12: Military. I’m not sure if St Mary of the Mills has an actual unknown or if this is a memorial.
A plain white stone with “Unknown U.S. Soldier” carved on it. There is a pile of white gravel in front and two small American flags. St Mary of the Mills, Laurel Maryland
