Reasoning and bipartisanship won't stop viewpoints like this. People like this only pretend to negotiate to waste time. Absolute political defeat at the ballot box is the only way of dealing with it.

Glad @newrepublic.com is covering this insane crap. With all of the resources CBS has, this is clearly a conscious decision to try and tilt the playing field in that race. Opinion is fine. Shilling it as news is definitely bullshit.

CBS aired a segment by Olivia Reingold—a reporter for the Weiss-founded Free Press—in which NYPD officers are worried about Mamdani, with some “considering retiring.” The evidence? Four unnamed officers quoted out of ~33,000.

The story is thinly sourced, fearmongering, tabloid drek. trib.al/hfqsrL0

Despite an undramatic four-game sweep by the Las Vegas Aces, a near record number of people tuned in. https://bit.ly/4h8Z6gG

There's a reason OKC keeps passing these massive projects: good stewards of the community monies and the projects bring value. Not property value, mind you. Community value. Education, arts, transportation, community spaces. Downtown OKC is improved. Now do the rest! S & E Okc need the help

How W. E. B. Du Bois responded to government policing of "anti-American" sentiment during the 1910s:

"I took great satisfaction in being able to sit back in my chair and answer blandly, 'We are seeking to have the Constitution of the United States thoroughly and completely enforced.' ”
Federal agents invaded even the offices of The Crisis and the National Association for the advancement of colored people and asked searching questions: " just what, after all, were our objects and activities?” I took great satisfaction in being able to sit back in my chair and answer blandly, “We are seeking to have the constitution of the United states thoroughly and completely enforced.” It took some ingenuity, even for Southerners, to make treason out of that.

Agreed. Radio silence on this one. But, I'm thinking the Nobel Peace Prize committee may not be so allergic to history facts as our rich-guy media are.

one of the reasons they're so mad at "no kings" is that they thought they were going to get a different kind of protest. they *want* the black bloc to be out there fighting with the cops. those are the images they've been trying to generate from "go." instead--

MAGA Rage at “No Kings” Boils Over—and It Quickly Backfires on Trump
As Trump allies smear the coming protests, a good writer on MAGA skewers the absurdity of these attacks on large swaths of Americans—and explains why our best recourse will be to turn out in force.

This is some of the best political news I've seen in a very long time.

There's a clear a way to end the Citizens United precedent by changing state incorporation laws - and now luminaries in both parties are forcing a vote on it in the 2026 election.

When even Trump mentions the NO KINGS marches and makes a threat, plus Speaker Johnson, you know there are some people sweating through their clothes somewhere.

“Both sides need to do better.”
Oh boy — both sides? In a state where the GOP runs everything from the Governor’s office to both chambers? Okay. 🙃

Chicago brings a Monstrance. Protests at the Broadview detention center began 19 years ago. Demoralized by our mistreatment of migrants, a Catholic immigration lawyer I know started praying there on Fridays. A month later he was joined by some Sisters of Mercy. They’ve been holding it down since.
