I took the night off to get a break at a small gathering in a friend’s yard. The Feds’ copters are buzzing us continually.

NIPAS came in late, and doesn’t do the dirty work, so this is just a small portion of the complex planning it took for Pritzker to shut down the Broadview protests. The notion that this was a rogue operation by the cops is ridiculous. Pritzker’s ISP is in charge, NIPAS a bit player.

They didn’t really regain control of the streets until it got cold.

As rough around the edges as I am, I can be a sucker when I want to. I *do* have hope. And I’m not gonna quit being a sucker just because I get betrayed sometimes. I refuse to harden my heart. I won’t let them do that to me.

The service groups get around town more, crisis response.

Then I take some consolation from the fact the protest I’m covering has taken some pressure off the neighborhoods. Sure, the goon squads can be rough on protesters. But they’re much worse out in the neighborhoods with regular folks.

I frankly don’t spend much time on names and badge numbers. I look at the name tags for their assignments. I’m less interested in *who* they are than *what* they are.
If I’ve got cops pulled off desk jobs, I relax.
But if I’ve got goon squads pulled in from outlying districts, I get my guard up.

Sucks that our own Governor, who talks a good game for the cameras, has committed his muscle to supporting ICE.

Folks don’t always get that protests preoccupy law enforcement that suppress the protests. Those folks in Broadview are getting gassed, beaten and arrested in lieu of immigrants getting the same treatment. They’ve mounted a heroic struggle to protect our people.

Exactly. He’s like Dolly Parton; even if you don’t like country music generally (and I don’t), you can’t help but like her.

My neighborhood is deep in the city, full of immigrants, and about as resistant as it gets.
ICE knows Pritzker has their backs, and probably expects Johnson to run interference for them too if they get in a jam. It looks like he will. Big mistake. It will not pacify this town.

He’s dumping the problem in Brandon Johnson’s lap. With ICE cut loose to attack the city, the focus moves to Chicago; they’ve been everywhere today, even my neighborhood.
If Johnson follows Pritzker’s bad example, and sics Chicago Police on folks resisting ICE, all bets are off.

Pritzker’s Joint Command brandishing chemical weapons is an escalation. He’s ratcheting up the pressure to shut down the Broadview protest, so ICE is free to rampage in Chicago.

I’ve edited the cliche to “the wisdom of youth” in recent years.
And I’m old. 🤷‍♂️ They give me hope. ❤️

City doesn’t decide what an official act it. Trump does, unless and until his court tells him otherwise.
But, yeah, his court will totally apply the law with a vengeance on a Democrat.

Pritzker’s crackdown in Broadview has freed them up to go to town. Trump don’t care about a court order. His court gave him absolute immunity.

If the Broadview protest is wiped out, that’s on Pritzker. And his behavior there is a bad sign for what he’ll do in similar situations in the city. He sent troops here in 2020.
