One angle I’ve used to get rid of the Jehovah’s Witnesses who wake me up on Sundays is to look at the kids: “Hi, I’m a servant of the Whore Of Babylon. In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti.” They grab their kids and run before I can complete the terse blessing.
you're telling me a right-wing catholic convert is just a protestant in disguise? shocked
In newly leaked audio, Peter Thiel admits he urged JD Vance to ignore Pope Leo XIV on moral questions — including the ethical development of AI.

He goes even further, branding Leo “the woke American pope” and suggesting he’s a tool of the Antichrist.

As a young man I worked at the Options Exchange, which had a paging setup where you’d call a phone number and they’d announce the name over a PA system. We had a long list of names like this.

I was just a kid, listening to an underground radio station late at night. When this started playing I was like “I hate this song.” Before it was over I’d switched to “I love this song.” A revelation.

Cops have always been liars, and courts are mostly complicit in the lies. The difference here is that a District Court judge made a finding that these cops are liars. But her injunction is unlikely to survive on appeal; it’s already been stayed by the Court of Appeals.
This is the same playbook the Trump administration ran in Portland, where DHS officials falsely accused local police of failing to help them (or not arriving quickly enough). Strikes me as a problem that the government lies so freely to the Supreme Court now. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/25/u...

Zimmerman is apparently upset about being called a fascist himself, so much so that he failed to notice that Mamdani totally owned Trump on this point.
OPINION: "Calling the president a fascist does nothing to advance the Democrats’ cause — and more of the party’s leaders would do well to realize that." — Jonathan Zimmerman
To defeat Trump, stop calling him names
Calling the president a fascist does nothing to advance the Democrats’ cause — and more of the party's leaders would do well to realize that, Jonathan Zimmerman writes.

I was the scout who liked to set things on fire, and they didn’t have totin chips back then, so I was dangerous with blades too. And my Troop was one of the few safe havens for gay boys, but the Scouts lost their way after I left by scapegoating gay Scouts in their first abuse crisis.
Boy scouts is cool and good because you get to meet a kid who really loves lighting things on fire & also a kid who will chop off a bit of his finger and lose his totin chip.

I don't see why it has to be a genderwalled experience.

The Clintonistas simply do not appeal to your typical voter; quite the contrary, the Big Dog being the worst example. We’re best off throwing them under the bus.
The thing about Carville's piece is that it's a perfect example of the way centrists can't write literally anything without getting in a few jabs at the left/minorities. It's entirely possible to run on "economic rage," sure. There's no need to go, "And remember what some people on Tumblr said??"

Sisters are the best clergy we have. The example they set challenges us to become our best selves.
Sister JoAnn Persch served with the Sisters of Mercy for 73 years. On Nov. 1, Sister JoAnn was among the delegation denied entry to the Broadview ICE facility when they attempted to bring Communion to those detained inside.

Irish are edgy; Chicago, at first blush, is central. But Chicago exists as a crossroads, a concentration of edges, irresistible to the liminal, as a box attracts cats.

Trump is clever enough to be relatively solicitous to Left populists. As a Right populist he knows he’s competing for the same voters.

Regular folks in Chicago getting shot and gassed on the regular are understandably skeptical of empty gestures and gaslighting from elected Democrats.
The degree to which the Democratic Party is failing to meet this moment is staggering. And INFURIATING, when contrasted with the courage on display from ordinary people with far, far less power & protection.

The colorblindness of transit activists who grew up in the burbs is politically toxic, and sabotages efforts toward improvement.
