The rules of engagement in LA and DC appear to keep them at the physical presence level on the use of force continuum. If that holds in Chicago, fine, we’ll just make fun of them.

I’ll treat the Texas National Guard as the joke they are so long as they’re just scarecrows, a mere show of force. But if they escalate to empty hand control or use of weapons, all bets are off.

I’m hoping and praying Mayor Johnson doesn’t make the same mistake. His political calculation is different.
Pritzker’s got the money to buy his re-election. All Johnson has is the horizontal network that elected him against the odds.
If he attacks that network, he’s toast.

I think he thought he could pre-empt troops by doing Trump’s dirty work for him. The stupid fuck didn’t realize that you don’t appease fascists. They take it as weakness, and double down. So now Trump is sending troops.

But we have to recognize and acknowledge betrayal. If you can’t do that, you’re not safe.
