NO

Tfw what you, and many others, have been screaming about finally gets traction: "a big and growing number of countries recognise that a managed, collectively navigated route to fossil fuel phaseout is preferable to the chaotic absence of planning we currently have"

This is who is waiting in the Bad Place to greet you.
When you hear the word "innovation" and "permitting reform" know this: You're about to get fucked, the rich are gonna get richer, & the powerful more powerful.

Really glad this panel has a diverse array of white dudes representing the political, investor/tech, & media elites.

Jamelle has finally lost me. Solo was not good! And, Rogue One is unimpeachable!

Attack of the Clones take is correct.
i would push rogue one down and bring solo and the last jedi up. i’d also place attack of the clones at the bottom.
haven’t seen ROS or Solo but this seems like a pretty ball-knowing list from Pritzker, particularly if he volunteered the name “Star Wars” rather than “A New Hope”

Saying that mitigating emissions is scaling back energy production is so dishonest.

For some people, it's easier to envision the end of the world than the end of fossil fuels. Would be nice if they would just get out of the way so the rest of us could get to work.
The idea that opposition to geoengineering is largely just lefty extremists and loopy right-wing chemtrail guys feels very much like part of the broader project to normalise it with the ultimate aim of ensuring it is actually deployed as a tacit replacement for mitigation

if there's a reason to keep up the "tribunals for all involved" discourse one such reason it is to put in stark relief how far away some of the Dem politicking is from the mood on the ground
eric swalwell said on msnow that a major goal of a dem majority after the midterms would be for ice masks to come off and badges to come out, this is insufficient

It remains insane to me that DOGE was treated at the time as an impressive shock and awe accomplishment - “you can’t deny he’s getting stuff done!” - and then instantly memory holed by the press once if became clear it was a total failure by every possible standard including Musk’s own
Difficult to overstate how profound a failure DOGE was. Spending in FY2025 was not only than in FY2024 – but higher than it was projected to be when Trump first took office.*

The little bit of spending DOGE cut has already killed hundreds of thousands and will eventually lead to millions of deaths.
Bye bye, “DOGE”.

It no longer exists as a “centralized entity”, according to the Office of Personnel Management.

So, below is EU President von der Leyen saying that the EU is "not fighting fossil fuels, only emissions."

And here is the Saudi envoy to COP30 saying exactly the same thing.

I'm telling you: climate politics are unified around the lie that we can keep fossil fuels & still deal w climate anyway.

A more nuanced take at what’s happening the #COP about why some countries are hesitant about fossil fuel drawdown- mistrust and no just transition pledge or financial support for lost revenue risks leaving these countries bearing the burden. Thanks, @anabellarosemberg.bsky.social for the heads up.
