The Lancet, one of the world’s leading medical journals, has issued a report on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

The report highlights the catastrophic impact of the ongoing genocide on healthcare, with hospitals under siege, clinicians working without basic supplies or power, and at least 772

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

It's so interesting that Turning Point, which actually does advocate for violence, is so quick to point fingers at antifa, an organization that largely does not exist.

Y'all who keep lecturing protesters to "not give them an excuse" need to pause for a minute. Imagine yourself telling a DV victim, "Be sure not to mouth off or make any mistakes so he won't hit you. Don't give him an excuse! It's what he wants!" That's what you fools sound like.

“Even today, when the planet is dark, there still is hope. Don’t lose hope. If you lose hope, you become apathetic and do nothing” Don't lose hope. Also, send Musk and Trump into space on a one-way ticket. 😍

This is something EJ/CJ advocates knew from the start and the mainstream movements did not listen. We don't have time to keep making the same mistakes. The only way to reduce emissions is to STOP fossil fuel use. No more of this offset/negative emission bs
Carbon offsets fail to cut global heating due to ‘intractable’ systemic problems, study says
Analysis of 25 years of evidence shows most schemes are poor quality and fail to lower emissions

I don't mean to not have empathy and I grew up in WY, so I understand how overwhelming it can be. But, like we live in a time when K Pop Demon Hunters is the top streamed movie- you don't have to keep seeking legitimacy from white folks and whiteness. It's a choice, esp when you are a full adult!

Let's go. Debt unites us and, when we organize, becomes THEIR liability, not ours.

🔥Tenants are striking—not against rent, but against rent debt.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright: "Reducing the CO2 emissions, that's expensive but really wholly unnecessary. Extremely expensive, very little benefit from that. Again, it's just returning common sense. Americans want affordable energy."

On this very site, a dude accused me of rage baiting by saying Al was a climate issue. Huh, it’s almost like you can’t bean count emissions when it comes to climate change because things are intertwined. Who knew? (Me. and lots of non-mansplainy people)

California predicts data centers will consume as much power as adding another LA to grid by 2030

The Insatiable Energy Demands of Data Centers Could Increase Fossil Fuel Emissions in California
By 2030, the centers could consume the equivalent of adding another city the size of L.A. to the state’s power grid.

since December, I have been saying that one move is for blue states to place federal tax withholdings from state employees into escrow. (Note: I am a state employee. It would be messy). The state, as I understand such things, already has these funds.
gwensnyder.bsky.social
I'm just spitballing, but as someone else suggested you make it illegal to process the withholdings, and you do some major posturing about how the state will deal with federal agents who come in trying to enforce federal requirements.

Messy? Yes.

Things are going to have to get messy, though.

would also need to somehow convince every employer that they can just stop processing federal withholdings. tough sell to say the absolute least

The other thing is that, according to the ad, you could hire 2000 cops or 4800 teachers or 4000 firefighters or I forgot the number for nurses but it was way higher than 2000. All you need to know about how f'ed up we are is that a cop makes more than twice the salary of a teacher.

The ads against Prop. 50 (CA's redistricting plan to counter TX) are so hilarious. "Instead of spending the money on this, we could hire 2000 more cops," So you're telling me that if I vote for Prop 50, we have 2000 fewer cops?? Sign me up. Twice.
