I went to college at the University of Iowa where searingly over half of the student body were kids from Chicagoland suburbs who said they were from Chicago. I came away from that experience with a deeper dislike of the Cubs and Bears (obligatory disclaimer that I love the city of Chicago)

lol yeah I totally understand this POV

I like both of your skeets bc otherwise there would be a dearth of Bucks talk

SOMETIMES I understand that preference though. “Where the action is” mentality. A competitive spirit.
bridgemusicbunker.bsky.social
There’s less banter between different fan bases on here. Less of the back and forth “no, your team sucks”. Whether or that’s a good or bad thing probably says something about which app you’re on as I’ve long suspected that action is something a lot of my brethren ENJOY. Me not so much.

I'm curious -- coming up on a year since many of us migrated -- how fellow denizens of #NBASky feel about this. I don't miss the other place. Feel like I'm getting plenty of NBA chatter and feedback here. (Though, admittedly, I do wish more of my media peers would post regularly.)

I AM really struggling with how little NBA talk there is on here and I'm tired of pretending I'm not. Ratio me, it's a badge of honor.

Yes, there are degrees to each offense. Murder is bad. I can no longer enjoy Kanye West’s music because he is beyond reproach as a human.

Understanding who the artist was as a person is also a way to AVOID blind idolatry. I think you can appreciate the art without sanctifying the person.
bridgemusicbunker.bsky.social
I only want to celebrate an artist’s art. I’m not interested in sanctifying their being. My OP is in reference to D’Angelo…a musician.
bridgemusicbunker.bsky.social
Then let me clarify- I’m only talking about celebrating someone’s art and sharing why it impacted our lives even in small ways. Idolizing that figure you’ve never met to sainthood is unnecessary- yes, absolutely.
bridgemusicbunker.bsky.social
Ok, but let’s also find joy in things.
bridgemusicbunker.bsky.social
Sure, but that type of idolatry should always be checked and scrutinized no matter life status of the celebrated. If we’re mourning the passing of someone who brought a little joy into world through their art…I see that as a healthy public display of gratitude. Done within moderation? Of course.

Two weeks ago we lost a giant of the movie posters world, Renato Casaro. Today we lost a modern Master of movie posters: DREW STRUZAN. I can guarantee you have at least seen 5 of his posters in your lifetime. The man has put his art on some of the most popular movie franchises (Indiana Jones, 1/4

I used to think public mourning for celebs you never met was an unnecessary or odd use of social media, but now I think the collective part of it is one of its more redeemable uses.

Here's a YT playlist of D'Angelo live performances I put together awhile back. If you know you know, and if you don't, take today to learn. He was really that great

lol it’s just that I can’t even think of a better analogue out there for “strangest album for someone to have it be the ONLY album from a very prolific artist’s discography “. You must not like Neil Young, which is fine! Just funny to me

In this song I hear “the Brewers somehow beat the Dodgers”

Is Bryce Harper a future episode of Untitled? You get it.

Frelick at the wall into a double play, etc, you get it.

And “what would their narration say about this game?” def went through my head last night with Snell, Brewers bullpen, Freddie F, Bauers.

Secret Base videos have inundated my brain where I start thinking about how they’ll build the story if the game I’m watching is a future episode of their Rewinder series, as it’s happening. For awhile I’ve had it in the back of my brain that the Giannis’ Bucks are a future episode of Collapse.
