This post Elon Musk reposted is not only pure eugenics, but it's also entirely unscientific: decades of research has found executions have had no meaningful deterrent effect on crime rates, and some research shows that public executions lead to an increase in crime.

One fascinating and yet expected thing is that none of the big foreign accounts pretending to be American are left of center, or even anti-Trump. Not a single one. Says something about the economics and geopolitics of political grifting
If I’m understanding this correctly, X is owned by a white nationalist who pays poor people of color in developing countries to pretend to be working class white Americans to scare other white Americans into being afraid poor people of color from developing countries are going to ruin America?

If you’re a journalist who’s still on Twitter, from now on in your writing you have to replace “the American people want” with “troll bots in Eastern Europe demand”

Being there makes your judgment suspect. I don’t care how savvy you think you are, you’re marinating in a disinformation campaign.

I know anti-tech lamenting is a Bluesky core principle, but please use the same judgement you would for any other clickbait.

Folks, this is VERY important. This means that there will be a decrease of nurses in the field and their access to student loans will be severely restricted. There is already a serious shortage of nurses, this is only going to make it worse. Nurses are the backbone of healthcare.
Nursing has been excluded as a “professional degree” by the Trump administration as the Department of Education prepares to make massive cuts to providing students loans. Also excluded are NP’s, PA’s, PT’s. This comes when there as an extreme nursing shortage and $20K sign on bonuses for nurses. 😡

Thankfully, Bluesky is in no danger of not-surviving.

Whenever The Retention Problem is fixed (by e.g. adding subcommunities, etc) it will grow like a weed to 1+ billion users.

Because people want a better platform and there's already more than enough people here to spread the word.
when is bluesky app shipping any gamechanging features. they don’t have to survive but i wish there was some movement on feeds or more “out there” stuff like atproto frames

Few NBA superstars make it to age 39 or beyond.

Even fewer retain their powers.

And fewer still are blessed with a much younger superstar.

We spent a year investigating billionaires for @washingtonpost.com.

We found: the wealthiest 100 Americans gave $1.1 billion to influence the 2024 elections — 140x more than they did in 2000. And almost all of that giving boosted Republicans.

Ok Bluesky, let’s give this a go: I found this postcard in the back of a photo frame I bought at a London thrift shop.

It’s an unsent postcard from a woman called Linda to her parents. The front shows the Kremlin in Moscow and the stamp says 1984 (!).

I’d love to return it to Linda - can you help?

This is wild.

At 12.5 points per 100 possessions below league average, OKC's defense is currently the best the NBA has seen this century.

Now, where things get crazy: the gap between OKC and the 2nd-best defense of the century is the same as the 2nd-best defense and the 76th-best defense.

How...
