No, YOU drunkenly purchased frieten met stoofvleessaus (aka chips 'n' gravy) to take back to your hotel room.

That was rather a lot of 'going's for one sentence!

I was only going to have one in De Fiere Margriet but I'm having such a good time I'm going for an XX Bitter before going home.

(Almost as much fun as the dog's having!)

Back in town and I'm in the relatively recently reopened De Fiere Margriet. About 100 beers on the list and very little crap. Enjoying an Avec les Bons Voeux. It was previously in the freebie book with the entire space for café description taken up by a lengthy dirty joke with a wanking punchline!

I've had a couple of drinks, so here's my unfiltered thoughts. My trans friends rule, and the 'reasonable' transphobes that have popped up once or twice on my timeline can just fuck off and die.

2nd, and probably last at Den Druppel, is one of their bottles - Druppel Hop 8.5%. Unfortunately the barman poured it for me. They also have a couple of weaker beers and a 10.5% tripel but this'll probably do before I go back to Leuven.

Unisex is fine. But the design could be better!

The TERFs would have a fit with the toilets here. Unisex - you walk into a single room with 2 urinals in plain view on the left wall and 2 cubicles on the right.

Hang on, you're acting as if I know what I'm talking about. I'm not really sure about that!

Fortunately that café wasn't the only reason I came to Aarschot. I'm in Microbrouwerij Den Druppel. They have their regular beers in bottles and a changing special on draught, which is currently Druppel #57, a hefeweizen. A very dodgy pour, still under the line after settling out.

When I presented the book they said they don't accept it anymore so no free beer 😪

I've taken the bus out to Aarschot for a café in the freebie book. The beer list is tiny even smaller than the book suggests but I've gone for a Tripel d'Anvers. Going to have a proper meal here (ribbetjes) and then do the short wander for a first visit to Brouwerij den Druppel.

The Kuitenbuter WCIPA was so good I've gone for a full one. The saison and the tripel were also decent with only the session IPA being a bit disappointing. At the same time I asked for a taster of their Vervolgwagen hefeweizen which is good too.

Cream ale's not my thing so I've passed. The WCIPA is excellent so I've gone for a full one after the tasting plank.

Food here is BYO so I may end up nibbling some of that cheese from the market!

With the annoying non-opening of De Reynaert my Sunday drinking starts later than planned. @erwinh.bsky.social suggested Brouwerij de Coureur in Kessel-Lo which I don't know so why not! Taster of 4 of 8 beers - Soepap session IPA 4.3%, Souplesse tripel 6.3%, Saison Geluc 6.6%, Kuitenbuter WCIPA 6.3%

That's annoying. Heverlee is south of the centre so ideally placed to stop off at De Reynaert on the way back. They should open at 1pm (and that's what the sign on the door says!) but I've been here 10mins and there's no sign of life. Not waiting much longer until I give up.
