I just want to point out (with Childe’s permission) that the VERY FIRST TIME this human ever heard Tina Turner, they, organically & without prompting, spontaneously broke out an actual perfectly cromulent Tina Turner dance in their Halloween mummy pajamas.

On his election in 1655, Pope Alexander VII commissioned Gian Lorenzo Bernini to sculpt a skull in marble, which he kept on his desk as a reminder of death's omnipresence. The sculpture was rediscovered in 2021 at Schloss Pillnitz, Dresden
Guido Ubaldo Abbatini, Pope Alexander VII with Bernini's skull (1655-56), Art Collection of the Sovereign Order of Malta, Rome. Pope Alexander VII sits in an elaborately carved chair, carved with the Chigi coat of arms, and rests his hands on a carved skull on the desk in front of him and looks out at the viewer A realistic, life-size marble skull with teeth missing, carved out of marble by Gian Lorenzo Bernini(1655)

For decades, “Underwater Basket-weaving” was the Boomer stand-in for any college major they thought was worthless, which always bugged me because…

A. Redundant! Most techniques involve submerging the basket at some point!

B. Have you seen what baskets cost? Maybe more of us should’ve majored in it!

I don’t know Vicious so I’m gonna say Toxic Avenger though I haven’t seen it since I was a Yout so it might not have aged well

What’s up Bsky?

You having a super cool social fun Friday night or you like me
catvalente.bsky.social
I loved that scene between the two of them

I just think it all would’ve been fine if more of the Salvation & Flag heel turn had been sprinkled throughout the season—which there was plenty of room to do with those half hour episodes

That’s 100% what he was hired to do for DC, though.

I think it could’ve been done more smoothly, but I don’t think he could choose not to do it
catvalente.bsky.social
I love that. B adores their teachers!
catvalente.bsky.social
I think if all that had come earlier in the season I would have thought it was great, horror as you say
catvalente.bsky.social
I just wish we’d actually seen that happen, Fleury especially.

I also felt like Economos was a little stuck in place after so much evolution last season.

Really, after that butterfly fight, everyone’s still gonna call him a coward & he’s still gonna meekly agree?

I kept waiting for the insane verbal abuse of his super-loving mother to have a point or a reason or a reveal but no…he’s just horrible to this poor woman whose husband left but she pushes through & tries to take an interest in her cruel weird kid’s interests & take care of him jesus what

I mean, that I get. When you’re in love that’s what your authentic inner voice tells you to go for.

That voice is very often an idiot, but it’s authentically idiotic
catvalente.bsky.social
I’m not sure that’s true, all the pieces minus the pet shop bit were there after S1 & they’d been split already for months in show-time.

What did you think on the whole though?
catvalente.bsky.social
I mean really, how do you make a concentration camp planet storyline and not have Nazi Keith come for revenge so the parallels & “ha ha this is different/ you must live in a utopia” play out in real time?
catvalente.bsky.social
But the character stuff had all been done before—half the episode was a flashback. Ads left her wife ages back. Chris was depressed & wanting to quit after S1. Everything else was a montage
catvalente.bsky.social
But that emotional beat was there in S1 too with “did I kill the planet”

And Keith didn’t die again but I guess that doesn’t matter? When they bagged him I thought it was Nazi Keith Gang for a minute
catvalente.bsky.social
And “will he get out because they’re all kind of acting like there’s no more show”
catvalente.bsky.social
You don’t have to watch them for the finale, however, my disappointment comes from genuinely coming to love the rest of the season and wanting that story resolved because tbh I don’t care that much about Superman (which the finale is a clear lead-in to)
catvalente.bsky.social
Also I have a feeling people just liked Adrian/Vigilante too much & they wanted to nip that because I have no other explanation for his character suddenly being restricted to “I abuse my mom and am stupid now for some reason.”
catvalente.bsky.social
The more I think about it the more this is my real problem with it—did they even verbally reference anything that happened all season? Those big traumas? Felt like it was going somewhere with Keith & Nazi world?

It feels like it was filmed & takes place *before* S2. Nothing required S2 to occur.

I…did not really like the Peacemaker finale. Mainly because the whole season felt totally unnecessary to this episode. It could’ve followed on directly from the S1 finale. Almost every actual S2 plot/set-up was dropped.

Kind of feels like an elaborate ruse by James Gunn to become Mankind’s DJ.
