Oh wow, congrats! I’m on year 5 and i have had a very good time. Once Hennepin is done and Heart of the Beast, Lito’s Burritos, and Dreamstate Cafe + Boneshaker Books in the Common Roots spot all open in the next several weeks we are going to be cooking with gas.

Transit, density, lots of weird places to shop, great mix of people. Good and diverse mix of food. Honestly mostly just standard bigger city stuff. I was feeling the vibe last night.

The Wedge neighborhood is the Chicago of Minneapolis. And I fucking love Chicago.

Seems like there's a lot that Minneapolis could learn from Denver on, provided that we want actual solutions to crime and homelessness rather than using them as things we fight about for political gain.

Their homelessness plan was able to house more than 2,000 people in 18 months.

In Hennepin County's last point-in-time count, the entire county has 427 unsheltered homeless people.

Homelessness is an entirely solveable problem. You just have to try. www.axios.com/local/denver...
Denver reaches goal to shelter 2,000 people two months ahead of schedule
It's a full two months ahead of its targeted Dec. 31 completion date.

9 homicides in St. Paul all year. Incredibly impressive.

Also, this bit about Denver really caught my eye, because...

this is wild: while Stephen Miller's guy was in Minnesota for his uncle's funeral, somebody was able to see his entire phone and take pictures of his Signal group chats talking about military deployments to Portland, and brought them to the Strib (gift link: www.startribune.com/trump-offici...)

We are about to be overbuilt for the people that are actually riding stuff. Need to make the stuff we have work as well as possible, and until we get more people, I don't see a good argument for more building, personally.

And agree re: stories. People moving from other places play a huge role.

I have done a lot of thinking about this and I really think the only way it's going to happen is with carrots. The E Line is going to be a massive opportunity for that and I we're going to know a lot more about the success and failure of mass transit in MSP after we get a year of data from that.

‘For Nigerians, the cost savings from ditching diesel mean that a solar panel pays for itself within six months…with imports of Chinese solar panels growing by two-thirds between June 2024 and June 2025…high fuel prices, a byproduct of the Ukraine war and the loss of a fuel subsidy’

It is so cool. In the Willow Creek strip mall. They have a live music thing on Saturdays and when I went the table next to us was a giant intergenerational family chugging vodka.

Someone on Reddit made a list of Twin Cities restaurants from most countries, sorted by flag. I am bookmarking the hell out of it and so should you. www.reddit.com/r/TwinCities...

Excited to see this. In a world in which people are drinking less beer, the breweries with immaculate vibes and/or high quality beers are the ones that will survive. And their beers are right up there with the best of them.

Back in my day, Yankee Stadium was louder than a Metallica concert in a jet engine testing facility when they played the Red Sox in the playoffs. This is so tame. They’ve lost their fandom fastball.

The launch of this program, which should've filled a bunch of vacancies and produced a bunch of tax revenue by now, has been completely ridiculous. What a mess.

When Minnesota's medical cannabis providers were allowed to begin selling recreational weed immediately after being licensed by the state, I got a bunch of calls and messages from folks in the cannabis biz asking how it was legal. Here's what I found out.

Cannabis business owners fume as medical dispensaries jump first into recreational market
Agreements with the state authorized two medical dispensaries to sell some of their existing medical marijuana to recreational customers while other retailers struggle to secure supply.

The correct answer is that it is both The Wedge and Uptown, both of which you can claim whenever either is convenient

Welcome to the Wedge! What a perfect space for you guys.

She directly quotes conversations with Cathy Englebert that legitimately call into question how the WNBA is being led. (Part 1/2) #WNBASky

Pretty simple for the Lynx tonight, lose and the season’s over or win with this many odds stacked against you and the momentum will be so big coming back home that they coast to a championship.
