UT beats A&M in the SF of the SEC volleyball tournament. Will play Kentucky in the final tomorrow. UT has only lost twice this season: to A&M and Kentucky. The revenge tour continues!

Art Briles has been hired as the head football coach at a D2 school and so is back in the news. If you want to understand why this hire is upsetting for many, here's the long piece @dansolomon.com and I wrote back in 2019 about How Baylor Happened: web.archive.org/web/20190208...
How Baylor Happened
WACO, Texas — There’s not much to recommend spending four years in Waco. Driving into town up Interstate 35 from the south, the endless stretch of Texas nothing fills out slowly. It’s flat in the way ...

I need the email of whoever at ESPN keeps deciding to show points in the volleyball matches from behind the serving line instead of from half court.

According ESPN, Briles received a $15m settlement when he left Baylor, not to mention the $3m he was making annually. Why is anyone paying him to coach anywhere?

this was truly one of the most bizarre things i have ever witnessed, in a courtroom or anywhere else, just this bafflingly antagonistic testimony when he wasn’t even the one being sued
If you are interested in whether Briles has taken responsibility for the failures under his tenure at Baylor, consider that two years ago, during the only time he's been under oath, he lied about basic things like whether he wrote his own memoir: www.texasmonthly.com/news-politic...

Just a friendly reminder as we go into the holidays:

Folks don't have to explain to you why they don't drink.

If you offer them a drink and they decline, don't ask them why. It's not your business.

Just offer them something without alcohol to drink instead. And move on.

I’ll dress up to fly as soon as I can fit my 6-ft-tall frame in a regular airline seat without eating my knees.
Duffy: "Trump talks about the golden age of transportation. But the golden age in transportation truly begins with you ... People dress up like they're going to bed when they fly ... so we want to push people as we come into a really busy travel season: Help people out, be in a good mood, dress up"

There’s something particularly demoralizing about the way medical bills slowly roll in over time after a medical procedure or visit to the ER. You think you’re safe, you’ve paid it off, but then a new balance pops up like a jack-in-the-box. And there’s no way to know when it will end!

In undergrad, before defending my senior thesis, my advisor told me to say “I don’t know” if I didn’t know the answer to a question, rather than painfully trying to bullshit my way through the answer. Thank you, Dr. Fulkerson for giving me some of the best, most useful advice I’ve ever gotten.

My trainer has me doing this challenging workout where I do a certain number of reps on the hexbar and then on the bench press. But the difficult part is I have to do them on the minute. So I have 60 seconds to do hexbar, then 60 seconds for bench. I do this 5 times each, 10 total minutes.
