Reading this and realizing that BL like Heated Rivalry is now in the "cozy" genre for a lot of people because it (sort of) removes the restrictions and trauma of hierarchical structures.

Also explains a lot about the comments I see on toxic smut.

Women are feral for Heated Rivalry. What does that say about men?
The explosive popularity of the gay hockey TV drama reveals women’s desire for sex and romance without violence or hierarchy

I do love the internet
Condé Nast forgot to renew the trademark for Gourmet and so a group of journalists grabbed it and are relaunching the food magazine as a worker-owned co-op. Love it. [gourmetmagazine.net]

What if we just kept reading books where queer and trans people end up having a pretty good time?
2026 isn't off to a great start, but we at the QT Library are trendsetters and think all of these things should be in for this year. It involves way more books, queer joy, and letting us be who we are without fear.

💭 What are you aspiring to be in 2026?

Ash, I am STRUGGLING with this one. He sucks but also every time he's on screen he's doing the most pathetic shit. At least when they cast Sandoval on last season he was being interesting on screen

It goes against what we were taught in Kindergarten. Granted the "melting pot" is propaganda, but still.

that's because you're an adult and don't need to go crying to your mom when somebody called you a butthead

Windows on handhelds is awful for sure. My thought was that maybe most people buying, say, the ROG Ally wouldn't notice when buying it at Best Buy. But that also assumes a non-tech person would get a handheld in the first place, which they typically don't

The fact it offers an alternative to the Switch definitely helped Valve a ton. They saw the market had a hole for non Nintendo games.
January 12, 2026 at 5:04 PM
I'm inclined to believe they won't since components are getting so expensive but I could be wrong!
January 12, 2026 at 4:43 PM
Guess it depends on which Nintendo handheld you're talking about. They had been doing handhelds much, much longer than most of the competitors going into the 2000s, 2010s, so they also had brand recognition. Talking about the Switch though is a whole other thing because of how innovative it was.

Yeah. One of the things that Valve really got correct on the first try was the design. Plus, they made it really easy to remap the controls and find builds from the community.

Steam Deck is an abomination that shouldn't have worked and YET.

Competitors have either been too niche, relied on cloud only, or were too expensive for most people. The closest we have is the ROG Ally, which should've been a slam dunk since you can actually get it at Best Buy. And YET
it's kind of crazy that the Steam Deck is nearly four years old and hasn't been completely eclipsed by any of its handheld competitors
