Guess it's time for a proper intro post with new followers...

I'm Carli (she/they) and I'm three aliens stacked on top of each other 👽 I've also been an editor, journalist, and content manager for like 12 years.

I have two cats, post about video games, movies, and journalism and have brain worms 🪱
The way I can't tell if we're posting about Olivia Nuzzi, Elon Musk, or we're just tulpa-ing the worst internet main character into existence

No. The Thing is a movie about a bunch of people who all distrust and hate each other trapped in one building as the tension between them slowly builds until it reaches a breaking point. It's a Thanksgiving movie.

I can't believe that in future social studies textbooks there's going to be a unit on Epstein, and they're not going to learn any context. They're just going to learn who he was, when it happened, and what happened because that's how social studies works.

The QT Library, an upcoming queer and trans library and community space I volunteer for, is still looking for anybody who wants to support this work that means the world to me!
🙏 You can support us as we cultivate a queer and trans community in Boston with events like these right now!

We're trying to raise $100K to get us one step closer to our dream space, and you can help us get there: secure.givelively.org/donate/92-39...

Games, crafts, a raffle, and great vibes really helped carry us through 2025 💜

Really wild situation here: a celebrated and well-regarded indie dev and publisher is facing shutdown because Valve banned their game from Steam and won't talk to them about it, at all.

Unsettling Horror Game Horses Banned From Steam, Leaving Studio With 'High Risk' of Closure - IGN
Indie horror game Horses is preparing to launch on December 2, on the Epic Games Store, GOG, Itch.io, and the Humble Store. But one place it won't be is on Steam, because Steam has banned the game for...

Going off of this, I'd love to hear the non-horror movie your parents showed you way too young
People say things like "my parents showed me all the classic movies growing up." For me, my parents showed me almost exclusively 1970s and 80s comedies.

That DID mean they bought me Animal House on DVD when I was like 13, but parents make mistakes.

I think Variety confused "best comedy" with "most comedy."

I have many thoughts on this list, but overall it feels like they did get the 100 best comedies but put them in the wrong order.
The movie listed at #1 is so incredibly misplaced that it calls into question the veracity of the entire list. It belongs on the list, yes, but SO MUCH further down. An absolute, credibility-wrecking flub. Boo, @variety.com! Boo!

There are a few reasons why publications don't source properly, including:

- not wanting you clicking away from their article
- wanting to trick you into thinking they're more of an authority than they are
- wanting you to spend more time on the page.

It's all sketchy, is what I'm saying.
we have got to have a conversation about how some game sites handle sourcing because why do you have to scroll all the way to the bottom underneath the ads and database entries of this gamerant article to find out the source of this mysterious "recent interview?"
