Hello, new Bluesky faces and followers!

If you did not know me from elsewhere, I'm Mike! This feed will not be coherent, as I'll be jumping between topics: movies, television, video games, tokusatsu, anime/manga/webtoons, and comics. Apologies in advance.

The blog should be up... eventually.

Wow.

That was a fantastic little film. More thriller than horror, but it came complete with a unique look, heavy synth vibe, and high tension throughout. Nearly every character is compelling too.

Just all these stories weaving through one big mistake.

A second film of the evening: Dead Mail (2024)

A Dead Letter inspector finds a mislabeled letter that hints at someone being mysteriously kidnapped. So begins a thriller-esque journey.

That was certainly a movie that happened.

Everyone involved was giving it gusto, but missing the mark spectacularly. Not good, but I can't hate on it too much.

So instead, tonight's film is: Gods of the Deep (2023)

A team of scientists dive to the deepest part of the ocean, only to uncover uhhh... gods of the deep?

RNG led us to the bottom of the list:

Separation (2021), but it's no longer available for anything but a rental.

So, new rule: if a film is chosen, but not available, we chose a new immediately adjacent.

Well then, that's an interesting move to say the least.

Gundam Base is coming to the U.S.

Chicago to be precise.

I just pulled/sprained a muscle in my back last week and I went to the ER just to make sure I hadn't done anything real bad because it hurt so much.

Four! Heroes Die, Blade of Tyshalle, Caine Black Knife, and Caine's Law. Heroes Die is one of my favorite books. He's just got a way with action and prose.

Then he's got Iron Dawn and the three Star Wars books.
mhwilliams.bsky.social
He is still one of my favorite writers of all time, despite only having like 6 books?

You amaze me with your effort.

So, show love to the folks out there in the trenches *with you*. They're doing their best.

Also, there's folks out there who find space and leeway to hit up those smaller, more esoteric games like @dominictarason.com, @kimimithegameeatingshemonster.com, or @patchmagazine.bsky.social.

And that is the mountain ahead of anyone covering games.

You gotta choose one or more of these filtering methods, then knuckle down and play.

And that's *while* having to do all the things that keep the lights on: major reviews, news, guides, interviews, etc. Anyways.

"But Mike, many of those games are not worth one's time!"

Potentially, but how do you know that? Do you play just games from known names, games Steam filtered as popular, just games that could go to PAX or hit a major showcase?

These are all imperfect methods. The best way is... to play.
mhwilliams.bsky.social
That's without the demos.

Here's all the demos that came out on Steam today. Not this week. TODAY.

I see ripples, but no stone.

Anyways, here's all the games that came out on Steam today.

The problem with this film is this plot has been done by films like Get Out and Cuckoo far more successfully, with characters that have more intelligence and charisma.

All hail the smart and funny lesbian friend!

Tonight, RNG has taken us to the bottom of the list: The Privilege (2022).

A German horror film about a rich kid whose sister died under mysterious circumstances years ago. Now his friends at school get him into more shenanigans.
