Today at Lake MakaSka, #Minneapolis. The inbound flight approach to MSP Airport includes the southern end of the lake. So flights coming in at dusk would have a clear view.

It always feels like all the wrong people die, but I think it’s because there are far more beloved people than there are bastards.

There is a level of alarm coming from many great small businesses in Minneapolis & St. Paul that I haven’t heard since COVID.

This weekend - pick a locally-owned business or three that you love and go spend some money if you can. We’ve all got to look out for one another and they need our help.

“The people of Minnesota have forced the Trump administration into a strategic retreat—one inflicted not as rioters or insurgents, but as neighbors.” This sentence from @adamserwer.bsky.social made me unexpectedly get choked up. It’s weird what does that these days. But still …
Minnesota Proved MAGA Wrong
The pushback against ICE exposed a series of mistaken assumptions.

The majority of organizing happening in Minnesota isn’t just peaceful, it’s INVISIBLE. Moms showing up who won’t be interviewed on TV, people whose ICE patrols don’t turn into viral video. The grocery runs, the donations, the people filming bc they happen to be there. Please remember this.

Video of the rally in Boston. I legit teared up. Minnesota, we're going to win.
Protesters chanting "We're not cold, we're not afraid, Minne[apolis/sota] taught us to be brave" in Boston tonight outside Government Center station.

There are hundreds of people (maybe more?) in this photo. Not only is this not the main vigil, the main vigil is only a few blocks away. There will be tens of thousands of people in Minneapolis lighting a candle for our neighbor tonight.
HUGE vigil at Whittier International Elementary, up the street from where Alex Pretti was murdered.

This is in addition to the huge gatherings at the site of his killing and at the nearest intersection (26th and Nicollet). Three gatherings within a few blocks.

It is really the best part of the city. Prodigal Pub is my favorite bar. They have taken a beating and we’ve got to show up for them whenever we can.
The pride I have long taken living on Eat Street.
Quang's, Pimento, Little Tijuana probably get 80% of my takeout/dine-in business.

Little Tijuana is damn near "our" spot.
Glam Doll is our constant.
Quang's is such a casual date spot.

The pride I will always take living on Eat Street.

Alex Pretti, the man killed by federal agents today in Minneapolis, appears to have been a registered nurse, an athlete, a son and a brother, with ties to Colorado and Wisconsin.

Here is a photo he used for several accounts.

Scenes from 26th and 27th and Nicollet. The state troopers are at 26th and very calm. The feds are at 27th and wildly shooting gas into the street.

I would not recommend watching the video. This was an execution. And it looks like an attempt to provoke violence from what has been an extremely peaceful protest movement so far.
ICE just shot another one of my neighbors. They had the person on the ground, being beaten by several agents, and then fired multiple shots. In front of the donut shop where we like to get donuts for our kids.
