The things I despise most about running events are the DJs and the music. It's too much that early in the morning.

However, if they're going to be there, I do expect them to play "Gonna Fly Now" (the theme from Rocky).

When I saw the "Minnesota Nice. Mississippi Smarter." billboard I thought: is this offensive?

What did I hear in Alabama, the state that ranked 49th in everything? "Thank God for Mississippi."

The website claims that Mississippi turned things around. But does the ad play on that old perception?

After we were prompted to sing Happy Birthday (he turned 82 yesterday) half the crowd sang Sto Lot (the Polish equivalent) unprompted

It's an incomplete list, but the article indicates that tigers and leopards refused them. Black bears had gone vegetarian and refused. Sea lions were skeptical but tried them.

Do I want to try my luck skiing through the tiger enclosure? Picky or not, I might look tastier than a goldfish!

Non-profits, including colleges, typically include suggested donation amounts based on past giving. The low option is usually what you gave last year, with a couple more ambitious requests, maybe 1.5x and 2x.

This year a couple of my old colleges really went for it, asking for 16x and 30x!
