Still some Balloon Glow left from this weekend's mini fiber festival. It will be heading to The Yarn Store at Nob Hill later today.

Also despite me vending this weekend, I've given up dyeing more fiber or yarn because the day job is taking all my time at the moment. And fuck it. If I sell out, hooray! I might put a dent in the loan I gave the business to stockpile supplies.

At some point, we really need to ask ourselves:

Is all the authoritarian crap Trump is doing a distraction from the Epstein File?

Or, is the Epstein File a distraction from the fact we are watching our country descend into a dictatorship under the control of a demented old man?

Thank you! It's a really fun spin!
chihnu.bsky.social
I'm almost halfway done with my current spin. I got about a lb of Aurora Borealis from World of Wool. I've just got a little bit left of the first half lb, and then to start the second single. Plan is double plied for a sweater.

Shout out to everyone only now learning that "Albert Einstein was reclusive at the end of his career, shunning public engagements."

Really meant,

"For the last *20 years* of his career, Einstein opposed US racism by only speaking publicly at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Today’s discovery is everyone who was too scared to speak up about against fascism or genocide has found their voice when condemning the death of a far right figure.

The strike in the Caribbean wasn’t about drugs. It was about power unbound from principle.
In Defense One (@defenseone.bsky.social), I explain why this is a warning to all who serve: remember your oath.

gave me a new one. I spun and chatted with some committee members and volunteers listening to the most delightful music. And just had a great time. Some ABQ friends joined me and loved it. One said it reminded her of the Taos Festival before it moved to Santa Fe. 10/10 will be back.

And fiber people really are the best people. Many of the vendors are friends and even those who aren't as so supportive. I talked a stranger into buying a spinning wheel and then helped her with it (Bosworth Journey so it's a bit tricky). The Athena Spinning people fixed a wonky bobbin and

I was at the Salida Fiber Festival this weekend and it's one of my favorite festivals. It's in a park by a river and the vibe is chill and relaxing. They do such a great job selecting vendors. Really high caliber and a good mix. And the town is great! If you're in CO, don't skip this fiber festival!

Finally a real headline from the NYT
chihnu.bsky.social
MAD doesn't make me money. Every cent goes back into buying supplies and stock. I take a utilities tax write-off but that's it. This is a hobby business and at some point the stress of dealing with this supply WTFery will mean I give up and close.
chihnu.bsky.social
I panic bought bumps of targhee and rambouillet because that's all I can get right now. I have some yarn stockpiled, including an acrylic/wool blend that is my "just in case" supply. I thought I got some domestic yarn but it's Canadian.
chihnu.bsky.social
That said, there will be a wool shortage in the US. There already is a wool shortage. Millwool has been out of my go-to bases since July. Shep's was so backed up I didn't get fiber in time for a show despite ordering a month earlier. And they are 100% domestic wool. It's going to be bad, folks.
