At some point younger people are going to have to start admitting that they expect celebrities to do politicians jobs because they’ve given up on politicians and voting. Why do Bad Bunny’s perceived politics matter more than the Pedo President?

The “No one ever voted for Trump” phase is here already.

Yeah it's like me pretending to like The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog when I was 8.
Pretending you enjoy Kid Rock to “own the libs” is diabolical actually, that’s got to be the clearest sign I have ever seen that it is a cult. Please free yourself.

No matter what Conservatives do, how many liberal arts institutions they take over or how hard they manipulate social media - they are losers who will never be able popular enough to create true cultural impact. They can’t do what Bad Bunny or Kendrick Lamar did. And it drives them insane.

All the worst people in America are having a terrible time because of Bad Bunny’s Superbowl set, just like they had a terrible time last year because of Kendrick Lamar’s Superbowl set and I am HERE FOR IT. May they sob into their beige food all day.

People often say w/pride, 'I'm not interested in politics.' They might as well say, 'I'm not interested in my standard of living, my health, my job, my rights, my freedoms, my future or any future.' If we mean to keep any control over our world & lives, we must be interested in politics. -M Gellhorn
You may think you are apolitical but you will definitely be remembered for your politics.

It’s the oldest story in the world. The Epstein Files reminded me of this piece I wrote on a devastating anniversary.

The president is now attacking a US Olympian as a “Loser” and misrepresenting his words for his mild unspecified criticisms about things going on in the US right now.

I am so tired of rich people refusing to build anything new and just burning everything that exists as a public good to the ground instead. They have decimated journalism this way. Remember when they used to be scared enough to build public libraries and parks?

Can't say it enough, if you are going to build ANYTHING, you are going to be criticized much more than you will be praised. Do not be deterred. Build what you want to exist. Find your people and seek their counsel. Keep it moving.

I strongly believe that you need to qualify your doomerism with active solutions that you believe will help, otherwise you are simply adding to despair which depresses liberation movements.

We can and SHOULD use it. Often.
Every time the White House backtracks or deletes something because of pushback, it just proves to me that those losers are still terrified of backlash. This is a good thing. We can use that.

"Reporter: Do any of you have a favorite animal?

Child: My favorite one is a gold snake that can move. It has gold eyes, and it has a super-duper tail…

Reporter: Mr. Mamdani, the second question for you.

Mamdani: Yes. It’s also the golden snake."

Another way to say "not all men". Because in a society that collectively oppresses women with lower pay, sexual harassment, rape, domestic violence, etc, the real sexism is when people make men feel bad.
Nb4 anyone comes in to say men can be victims of those crimes. Yeah. Mostly caused by other men.
One of my ongoing issues with people describing men who commit heinous acts as “monsters” or saying “those aren’t real men” is that it successfully otherises the problem instead of acknowledging the issue that is male violence. The only reason we do this is to protect men’s feelings.

The greatest joy in my life as an academic is being asked this type of question
the greatest joy in my life is asking overly qualified academics really dumb questions about the field of study they have devoted their lives to (i.e. did medieval people smoke weed?)
it's here! a really fun conversation with our friends at @wowiftrue.bsky.social podcast about "crusadercore" and which group of medieval people would be the best Twitch streamers.

have a listen and please share widely! #medievalsky
