In the US, Trump installed himself as the head of the Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts. Conservatives would not do this if they didn’t think the Arts had value. They know the Arts have value. They just hate that they can’t access that value for themselves so they seek to destroy it.

I am saying once again that the Conservative attack on the Arts is because they are incredibly envious of artists who they perceive as a group that has “too much” cultural power, a type of influence Conservatives crave but will never have because they’re anti-intellectuals with no imagination.

How is this repeatedly made into a policy issue - by *all* parties - when the blunt fact of the matter is that grown adults who are obliged to pay for their own education, and relentlessly pursued to repay their loans, should be able to study whatever the fuck they want.

(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

One thing these times are revealing is who is an artist that has the moral fibre behind their work and who kind of dabbles in art for capitalism’s sake. And a lot of a-list celeb culture is the latter.

I am pretty numb to all the threats, but I have noticed that people have become far less afraid of sharing their real names and faces whilst sending me death threats and rape threats recently. Something something destruction of the moral fabric of society.
