One thing you will never ever see is cops actually protecting protesters, regardless of circumstance. It's against their very nature. Even with their city under assault by the federal government, cops go after protesters like dogs after a cat.

Unless those protesters have swastika flags.

Troopers just violently attacked protesters, tackled several, several arrests, shoving activists and press with batons.

Trump said he deserved a cut for brokering the TikTok deal, and at once there was agreement that his son Baron would have a top executive slot... though he hasn't asked for it, and has no apparent qualifications to hold it. This is how Trump 2.0 works. www.telegraph.co.uk/us/news/2025...

What Thiel is saying about tax havens = what Altman is saying about copyright:

"I can't be rich unless you let me steal from you."

This is how Broligarchs differ from oligarchs of yore: the latter tried to hide their thievery; the Broligarchs trumpet their entitlement to steal as a natural right.

One of the great Marvel covers of the era. I didn't like Howard as a kid (I didn't understand it and I didn't like comics that I thought were making fun of superheroes), but seeing this cover in house ads made me try to find it (I did not succeed, alas).

What conservatives accuse other people of doing is what they themselves are doing or are going to do. It has ever been thus.

You remember when at the start of the pandemic everyone was hanging on whether WHO was going to call it a pandemic as if anyone with a dictionary and a map of infected countries couldn't make that call? We need to stop waiting for people in fancy suits to think for us. A lot of them are bad at it.

“Concerns over an AI bubble bursting have grown lately, with analysts recently finding that it’s 17 times the size of the dotcom-era bubble and four times bigger than the 2008 financial crisis.”

Hang onto your butts. This “correction” is gonna hurt.

Bank of England Warns of Impending AI Disaster
The Bank of England has sounded the alarm, warning of an intensifying risk of a "sudden correction" due to an AI spending frenzy.

Anyway, lest you think I'm picking on Denny O'Neil, who wrote a lot of comics I love (but also some I don't), this is all very much of a piece with the men's adventure fiction of the day, stuff like Mack Bolan and the Destroyer, a lot of which is even worse than this. So...yeah. 5/5

Anyway, according to the text, O-Sensei has mastered "all" martial arts (although only like 4 Japanese arts and boxing are mentioned lol), and now Richard Dragon has also mastered them "all" -- and it only took six years! Probably took O-Sensei decades, but Richard *is* white after all. 🤣 4/x
Richard has mastered "all" the martial arts...in six years! lol

And maybe a "destiny of greatness." I'm not blaming Denny for this, but when we look at angry, racist, lying dudebros today whining about other people getting stuff and confused that everyone else doesn't recognize that they're the real heroes, it's maybe not a complete mystery. 3/x

After tossing Richard around a bit, the Japanese O-Sensei and Benjamin (soon to become the black sidekick in spite of having vastly more training and wisdom) invite Rich to join them, because O-S senses that in spite of being an angry, racist, thief, Rich has a core of goodness! 2/x
After kicking Richard around for a bit, O-Sensei and Benjamin invite Richard to join the team as their lead hero.

Re-reading the mid-70s Richard Dragon series from DC for the first time in forever, and it starts off on a wild foot. Denny O'Neil sets up a heel-face turn, but going Full Racist and thinking the character can easily pivot from that with no lingering taint was a choice (sadly, Denny was right). 1/x
Richard Dragon calls the first black man he meets "a refugee from a minstrel show" and "an ape," and then invokes white pride.

If an organization has enough money to run commercials all day Saturday urging people to support a new law to "save college sports," you can be assured that they are not telling the truth and have no interesting in "saving" anything good.

lol, yes. Yes it did.

I'm patient, and I can forgive a lot, but they better fucking act like they want to for-real contend for a championship this offseason, No more time for any of this mincy, cheap, weak-ass shit.

I don't feel great about running Jack Flaherty back out for another inning of relief, although the Tigers don't really have any great options at this point. So, uh, yay?
