The way folks talk of the 'Democratic Establishment' as it's some Illuminati-level cabal to both spite and persecute poor people as well as secretly exalt Republicans. They really have to bend over backwards to find ways to make Dems to blame for even Republican sins.

It's amazing how many folks seem to think this case should've been a slam dunk express case, as if a trial aimed at a former president, for actions done as president, in a country where we've expressly avoided trying such cases, should have been done faster than even your average civil trial.

But again, if all it ends up boiling down to is pure untethered raw exercises of power, then we really have no democracy or republic to save. We just have feuding warlords and fiefdoms. There's a reason 'we had to destroy the town to save it' is now shorthand for this exact line of thinking.

They didn't "waste" two years. They spent those two years in court fighting to get access to the records that they needed to make their case in criminal court.

They started in January 2021 when they subpoenaed phone records from Trump's cabinet.

And it took until mid 2022 to exhaust the appeals.

During the campaign she was criticized for focusing so heavily on preventing fascism instead of on "kitchen table issues."

Now that Dems are literally focusing on kitchen table issues (ie, healthcare/inflation etc), they're being criticized for "not focusing on preventing fascism."

Like, I feel like many of the things folks attribute to malice or complicity are simply investigative leads that simply didn't pan out for the larger umbrella case, which is something that...just happens sometimes? And folks are making judgments with the benefit of hindsight.
