None of these people appear to understand how any of this works. The point of filming ICE and publicizing their brutality is *to radicalize the public against that brutality and eventually put a stop to the violence,* not to bear silent witness to that violence as a kind of personal penance.

People are reading this way wrong. Schumer detached DHS from the other five bills in return for a two week CR on the DHS bill. Now Democrats can make demands on DHS spending without having to shut down agencies covered in the other five bills. They have way more leverage to get real concessions.

Really not trying to downplay the seriousness of journalists being arrested for doing journalism but the DOJ clearly did this for content purposes. It won't stick legally. It'll do numbers online though. The engagement will be tremendous.
