To his credit, the man I told this to immediately took off his own hat out of fear of being misidentified as a Christ figure by Peter Thiel

Got to tell someone in real life the other day that there is a man who has put huge sums of money into shaping the government and the nature of public discourse, and he thinks Luffy from One Piece is a Christ figure because his straw hat represents a crown of thorns

Dreamed last night that Skrillex, an artist I have never listened to and am unsure if he still does stuff, released a CBD drink called Skrelax. “The ultimate in skrelaxation”. Ok

So, as basically a non-sports follower, I've still learned "Company outings to sports games: Fun! Ordinary company happy hours: Boring, stressful!"

I need you all to remember this as well...that bluesky actively assisted in ethnically cleansing Palestinians
indrapramitdas.bsky.social
Just saw 2 Palestinian accounts vanish right after asking me for help--one a mother grieving her baby daughter who just died of starvation, another begging for help to keep her little sick, starving baby daughter alive. I cannot say what I think of Bluesky admin.

With Sinners coming back to theaters, I just think about how that movie unlocked something. And not just in me.
An art piece of two Black people, a man and woman, sitting in a 1930s car. The woman is in the open passenger seat with a small robot on her lap. The man, wearing a brown suit, is sitting on the running board with his hat on his knee. A skinny limbed robot stands nearby, wearing a green fedora and holding a rifle over his shoulder.

The part where he methodically explains all of his enhanced interrogation techniques to the bound suspect so that he confesses out of fear before Columbo even lifts a finger are my favorite episodes. Because you never know if he was bluffing or not

Is this an issue of the media making high profile actors and other rich public figures the face of trans folk to the broader public?
violet-velvet.bsky.social
There's a harmful idea in society that trans women are wealthy, which is fundamentally untrue. I have never made more than 10k a year in my life, and a lot of trans people I know are in a similar boat.

Are women bourgeois?

Matt Berry knew enough to distance himself from Glinner in an interview, and say he did not share his views. I guess I hoped Rowling had the same obvious overwhelming stench, but it appears not
alexries.com
What are your theories as to why nominally 'liberal' people like Simon Pegg and Matt Berry are willing to work with Rowling?

It sounds like if you did it right, it could be wild

In the hipster chocolate milk shop in Brooklyn 99, the cops are shocked and horrified to learn that the hipster chocolate milk is made so that the bitter of the chocolate brings out the sour of the milk, and I'm so curious to try that fictional drink

Abolish ICE includes the Keanu Reeves Constantine
claybrendan.bsky.social
It's fuckin' weird in Reeves Constantine movie that he calls demi-demons and angels "half breeds" and talks about deporting them
claybrendan.bsky.social
I guess he smokes and curses God, but that feels like a different brand of edgy
claybrendan.bsky.social
It'd be one thing if this Constantine was supposed to be a bigot or had a consistently not PC sense of humor or something. It seems out of character

I will never get the keys to Trek but if I did I'd do a series set on a Klingon warbird and actually go deep into their culture, they're warrior-poets, and whenever the poet part comes out it's so fucking compelling
claybrendan.bsky.social
It would be sick to get some writers who are primarily professional poets rather than screenwriters into the writers room, too. Not just them, you need the narrative TV people, but also have some people who know the poetry craft inside and out in the process
claybrendan.bsky.social
Also whole episodes of them trying to meet up and missing each other. I think we all just did our best, and sometimes it was a mess, and then Seinfeld kept the record
claybrendan.bsky.social
There's a Seinfeld episode where George is the lead car to a vacation cabin where only he knows the way, and he gets too far ahead and loses Jerry and Elaine and it's a mess

I think the comic proper's anniversary is next year, btw. This one is in-universe
claybrendan.bsky.social
And to be clear, I believe the comic's proper 40th anniversary is next year, unless you count the DC Spotlight preview maybe. I was talking in-universe anniversaries here

Happy 40th Anniversary of Rorschach seeing the city‘s true face to those who celebrate
The first panel of the comic “Watchmen.”

On the top of the panel, text reads “Rorschach’s Journal. October 12th, 1985. Dog carcass in alley this morning, tire tread on burst stomach. This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face.”

The rest of the panel depicts an extreme closeup of a city street where a pool of blood runs off into a gutter. On the edge of the gutter there is a yellow smiley face button marred by a single drop of blood that partially obscures one eye.
