I don't want to jinx anything, but is LA suddenly a dominant college football town again?

Are you tired of winning?
Are you tired of partying?

No? Well good, because there's another SB 79 victory party tomorrow.

I am strong and will not allow Andrew Cuomo to negatively polarize me into supporting free buses
shabazzstuart.bsky.social
I actually thought this was satire. There are good, real grounded arguments against free busses.

Cuomo has picked (easily) the most nonsensical one.

Why is the Fatburger headquarters a cheap replica of Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana???

Text from my dad this morning: Mom fell. We’re heading to the hospital.

Canter’s has their 1955 menu displayed on the wall.

The Little New Yorker was 40¢

That is $4.73 “adjusted for inflation”

Today, they charge $23 for it

And the shot clock only applies to projects with 10 units or less

Yea, I think cities should be required to allow some commercial in dense neighborhoods, but that doesn't have enough popular support at the moment

For those who don't get it, the poster for tonight's event comes from a really-entertaining anti-SB 79 AI music video some NIMBY created (I'll link the video below)

It's from a video created by opponents

Not exaggerating when I say that SB 79, a bill making it easier to build housing near mass transit, is the most consequential piece of legislation that the Democratic Party has passed all year. Saying no to the worst people in our coalition proves we're serious about the future.

Thank you to future-president Gavin Newsom for doing what's right for California and our nation's future and making it possible to build housing near major urban transit stops!

I have such mixed feelings about this project!

Bad take. Spiral stairs suck

I actually run into this quite frequently in the Los Angeles housing space.

LA developers tend to have certain views on national (and international) politics that I have to put aside to be an effective local activist

Tangentially, I am *far* more experienced with:

A. Someone I agree with on national politics (guns, abortion, immigration) that I disagree with on local politics (housing, biking) than

B. Someone I agree with on local politics but disagree with on national politics

(I also dreamt last night that Newsom wasn’t signing SB 79, but let’s not talk about that one)
