Obviously I talk a lot about bike/ped safety.
But something that is really crazy is how much less safe you *in a car* since 2010.
In spite of all the additional safety technology, vehicle occupants are less safe today than they were 15 years ago.

My wife (and frequent editor) is suggesting I strike the word "alacrity" from a letter as being too much of a GRE word. I believe it captures what I want, and will be understood by most readers.

I'm out walking the baby to sleep and just saw a neighbor (I recognize her car) run over a jogger and then proceed to blame him for being in the crosswalk.

It's almost as if people are *somehow* already aware of their speed, and are affirmatively choosing to exceed the limit.
In today’s least surprising local news, speed display signs aren’t enough to make our roads safer.

This is a great example of the "curb cut effect," by which making the world more accessible for disabled people improves it for able bodied people.
If BART had put readers on both sides of the faregates, it would have been much easier for bicycle users, who walk their bikes on the right, to tap on.
