Obviously I talk a lot about bike/ped safety.

But something that is really crazy is how much less safe you *in a car* since 2010.

In spite of all the additional safety technology, vehicle occupants are less safe today than they were 15 years ago.

A person was unconscious after being hit by a car in downtown Berkeley at the intersection of a bike boulevard and a new protected bike lane.

What is the short explanation for why this is? Is PGE paying for all the fires or something and passing that on to ratepayers?

I actually just looked at this on Redfin and, with the passage of SB 79, this could have been the deal of a lifetime if the owner wants to build apartments here.

$1M for a 8,000(!) square foot lot a 4 minute walk from BART.

It's really wild to hear all this talk about 10-year moratoriums on AI and Autonomous Vehicle regulation in the context of how we treated electric scooters.

Those are both very interesting questions!

Obviously this is just one grant program, which is not the whole amount of funding distributed under each administration. E.g. the $66B in funding for rail under the IIJA is not included here.

Really interesting breakdown of the TIGER/BUILD/RAISE grant program awards under Obama, Trump 1, and Biden.

I have heard a rumor that the program will be ending and the remaining funds shifted over to the EV rebate program.

Picture how big the Hoover Dam is. An absolute unit. The Hoover Dam has a power capacity of 2 gigawatts (GW).

The solar farm that the Admin just cancelled could have produces 6.2 GW of power. That's more than 3 Hoover Dams.

SCOOP: The Bureau of Land Management says the largest solar project in Nevada — the Esmeralda 7 mega-farm — has been canceled

The news was quietly dropped via a sudden website update with no public word from any of the companies involved or a statement from the agency
