This was a lovely event. Reading at Cork Poetry Festival this afternoon. And better still my wife and I got to have a road trip without the kids. Also ate in a gorgeous Palestinian restaurant. Brilliant day.
A photograph of me reading some poetry and gesturing, looking altogether too serious but what can you do.

Me too. First draft was packed full of useless detail I thought was necessary but really I just found interesting. In subsequent drafts I've cut most of it save for some specifics and

I saw Catherine Connolly watch an ambulance pass by and she didn't bless herself.

I did something to my back and now can't even put on my socks by myself. I'm not saying I blame the Abbey Theatre, (or Marina Carr or Caitríona McLaughlin) BUT the physio says five hours in an uncomfortable seat may have contributed. Chasing and carrying an escapee 3yo the next day didn't help.

Virgin's is BY FAR the worst and actually RTE have made some improvements recently. It's still a chore to navigate but it's well populated and rarely freezes anymore.

It's nerve-racking. Seemed, as it trickled out, it was good news but now I'm not so sure. It looks like another cruel lottery alright.

Anyone know if the basic income for the arts scheme is being extented to 2000 additional recipients or are they starting from scratch for 2000 total?

I have a loads but Breaking Bad. Or Southpark was another growing up. Everyone seemed to watch it and sometimes I'd see a bit in someone's house but never sat down myself to watch it. A friend of mine had no tv at home so he couldn't contribute to so many conversations. Always felt left out.

Inspired by a post I just saw in which someone admitted they hadn’t seen a single episode of Friends nor the film Love Actually… what cultural hole do you have that’s a bit weird for your generation?

I’ll go first: I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing.

I had a rare day in town yesterday without family. Nice wet evening in capital. This fella pointing at me tripped his gf up and then wanted to know if I'd got it on video.

Waiting for the curtain at the Abbey yesterday for Marina Carr's Oedipus and Antigone DOUBLE BILL. Absolute marathon, my poor knees were crying out to be straightened by the end. Incredible staging and very fine cast but the kitchen sink comes to mind. Some of it stuck some didn't.
A mannerly Abbey Crowd waiting for the sparkly red curtains to rise on poor old Oedipus and his very many troubles.

How come HH gets a blue background? If I was a voter that had paid zero attention to the campaign and was seeing these for the first time, I'd go for Heather's picture.
