Personally I think he thinks because he said "if I was running the Fine Gael campaign" he's in the clear, he believes his opinion is that of an outside observational position of a devils advocate whereas we know he's just saying what everyone knows to be very much the FG mindset.

Otters (Lutra lutra) on the Jandúla River in Sierra de Andújar Natural Park, Andalusia, Spain, last week.
