I guess it's very similar to advocating for yourself and your own needs, particularly for women with healthcare issues.

Too much = crazy hypochondriac = negative health outcomes
Too little = negative health outcomes

One of the hardest lines to tread is advocating for your child.

It's SO hard to compromise on their needs but if you don't, you're "too much" and could end up worse off than compromising.

It shouldn't be this way.

Our complaint was about the data protection issue, the child welfare issue, the medical welfare issue.

We were told they would review it. That's in. Never heard from them again.

And low and behold, they have a data protection issue now. CHI have serious questions to answer.

I personally was pissed that religion is not something we can avoid, even if we wanted to.

They appear in hospitals. They send letters through your door asking for €. They appear in your child's school and it's *barely* opt out and only if the school facilitates it.

It's "shoved down our throats".

We had no say in whether he got to view our child's record. We never consented to it. We were never made aware it would happen.

There was no medical reason for him to do so. There was in fact an increased medical risk of him entering our son's hospital room.

And yet all that happened.

Now, a little info on us, we're atheists and very much aware of the MANY abuse cases commitTed by and covered up by the church.

We keep the church away from our kids, actively and on purpose.

So we were PISSED.

The policy was, where a patients record shows no religion or any Christian faith, he will approach to inform of their services.

Which means, the chaplain had access to our son's medical records!

I said no thank you and he left, but I was left reeling, not understanding why he had come in or whether he should have or not.

Of course he shouldn't have, but he did.

So we complained to management. We were told it was policy.

On admission we were asked if my son had a religion to which we said no.

The chaplain/priest came in, knew my son's name, was very friendly and then passed me a leaflet listing the services they offer.

Like door to door sales. But with sick kids. In a pandemic.

At the time my son was 6 months old. He was admitted due to fever of unknown cause. We were put into a children's ward, in a private room which we believe was standard due to then COVID protocol.

Day 2 a priest walked into the room. He was not summoned by us. He had no reason to be there.
