Drives me mad when they’re referred to as ‘young carers’ as opposed to ‘child carers’.

Because that puts a whole new spin on it, doesn’t it?
The OCO is really proud to be supporting this year’s National Young Carer Conference 2026 at O Reilly Hall, University College Dublin, with President Catherine Connolly joining young carers and advocates for the day.

This morning I was awoken by a LIVE BLACKBIRD in my bedroom, followed by the cat ricocheting after it, and by Himself yelling at the cat.

It was like a nursery rhyme gone wrong

My sense is that people are reclaiming something that was taken by abusive institutions and developing a new, more differentiated, relationship with it driven by their own values rather than imposed values.

(Ramadan for the challenge seems off to me unless raised Muslim though)
I don't know if belief in god is on the up but I absolutely see an uptick in people wanted to join in a little tradition or mark the passage of time with these festivals or get involved in something for the sake of the experience you know what I mean

Ireland’s greatest oppressor of all time?

1. The British.

2. The church.

3. The weather.

The Irish weather achieves its ultimate goal.
The National Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management has said the whole country is vulnerable to flooding, regardless of whether a formal weather warning is in effect, over the next 24 hours.

I don’t see how anyone could see it any other way.

It’s just a bunch of ignorant white people thinking they make the rules.

Always striking to me how reactionaries treat "culture" as immutable, something totally static. They think it's like an inheritance, something with set bounds passed down from parent to child and never changing - Instead of the ongoing collective experience of people in a place and time

I mean, we know this, but I’m gonna say it anyway. A marriage that both people actively and continually choose to be in is worth a hell of a lot more than a marriage that they merely can’t leave.

Consent is top tier, friends.

You want tiers? Grand, the compulsory one goes at the bottom.

Taking blame culture to new levels - trust us to do it with the weather!
It just wouldn't occur to me to complain to Met Eireann if it rained when they said it wouldn't, like it's the weather - a moveable, changeable beast that can never really be fully predicted ahead of time.

I am utterly sick and tired of self-declared experts who've never knowingly listened to a trans person in their life being elevated and presented by the media as definitive voices on our lives. A trans person is always too "biased" to comment on our own life and healthcare, but not these charlatans
