"A person familiar with the Russian naval incursions" 😂

A Mhichíl, an tusa é sin?

Pity they didn't get a person familiar with the history of why we value our neutrality & how it can be used to promote & progress diplomatic solutions & peace, such as the Nuclear non-proliferation treaty.

#IrishPol
But critics argue that Ireland, awash with cash from a corporation tax bonanza paid by global firms with big operations in the country, is using its neutral status to duck its 21st-century responsibilities.

"Because, those who are in Dáil Éireann who believe we should spend all that we have, and then spend even what we don't have, is not a good idea in terms of keeping our country safe into the future"

I see Simon wants to continue hoarding like Paschal 😶

The "Future Irish people, you could hardly expect us to cut down on the €40 Ryanair flights at least 4 times a year, because it's just miserable here on FFG neocon island, for the sake of a bit of extra rain? Sorry about the floods & crop failures though, but sure can't you emigrate" airport.
The Dáil has heard a suggestion that Dublin Airport be named after the former Taoiseach Sean Lemass.

Any counteroffers?

And the OTB
Dear Malcolm Byrne TD of Wicklow/Wexford Fianna Fail:

Homelessness
Housing Crisis
Winter Hospital overcrowding
Food Inflation
Heating Bills
Defunding of 3rd level
Treatment of Asylum Seekers
Destruction of Communities.

But you go ahead and introduce an airport name change bill. Vital. Critical.

The should rename it “425ppm CO2”. And rename it 12 times a year as the number creeps up month by month by month.

So many (awful) points, but also, tea making finally getting the recognition as a skill on par with architecture.

Edited anonymously by Bulmer Hobson, the 1932 Saorstát Éireann (Irish Free State) Handbook was a thing of beauty, intended as both a publicity campaign for the new state and a celebration of a decade of Independence.

I wish we were better to refugees because they're human beings and it's the right thing to do.
If we purely going to be transactional about it though we need to be better to refugees because our grandchildren, if not our children, will be climate refugees trying to escape an unlivable Ireland.

Worst Micheal Collins ever.
The Big Prick Fella
Michael Collins told TII last week that they should prioritise roads where there's no light rail... does he mean, nearly everywhere in the country? That's where there's no light rail.

He's such a populist.

Just listened to David McWilliams pod ep from last Mon about the Irish left being anti-American. I'm not well after it.

He gives out about conflation of opinions but thinks "the Presidental Left" are all Mick Wallace Maoists that use Climate Change as a pro-communism front against our US BFFs.

Eventually, long after it is needed and that need is clear to everyone, Ireland will switch to competing with other EU countries to attract migrants to choose it as a destination.

By then, whole generations of then-forgotten politicians will have made careers of poisoning the well of our reputation

When Dunnes staff refused to handle S African goods they were denounced by politicians from FF/FG, as well as "business leaders". The same groups blocking the OTB today. They were spat on, beaten by Gardaí and followed by Special Branch. It took 3 years to shame the govt. into acting. Reluctantly.

Callaghan’s new “tough on immigration” rules will only affect a tiny proportion of immigrants—who also happen to be among the most vulnerable. The gov know that drastically reducing inward migration would be an act of self harm so they’ll pick on these asylum seekers as an act of performance. Sick
