Magnificent book of photos by Bill Brandt
In 1938 Bill Brandt produced a fascinating book of photographs called A Night in London. These days you’d be hard pressed to find a copy for less than £2,000 as most copies were burned in a warehouse fire. Luckily there is a copy which can be viewed online here www.gorillasites.com/BillBrandt_A...

Why does this government find it so hard to tell Israel: you’re wrong, what you’re doing is illegal, and we are not going to let you get away with genocide.

I think the chorus of group-think saying "Labour is very unpopular" and "Keir Starmer is useless" or words to that effect, is blown up out of proportion to fill empty time on mass media? We know it's difficult to govern. While we can all disagree on policies, Starmer AND Badenoch too are doing OKAY.

"By 2025, Brexit had reduced UK GDP by 6% to 8%, with the impact accumulating gradually over time. We estimate that investment was reduced by between 12% and 18%, employment by 3% to 4% and productivity by 3% to 4%"

We're announcing a new partnership with StopNCII.org to prevent non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII) from spreading on Bluesky. While NCII hasn't been frequent on our platform, these incidents are devastating for victims and preventing them is a top safety priority. 1/4

A man's thoughts are a choral symphony with a recurring theme established early on that wanders through variations but always returns to "What a fine fellow I am." Now and then the symphony is interrupted, each time with seeming finality, by a single drumbeat, of "I am no good." Then it resumes.

Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

Tents are been destroyed and flooded by the heavy rainfall.

We are not seeing enough about Palestine on Bluesky.

There is extreme flooding and millions of displaced & unsheltered people.

There never was a ceasefire. There was never going to be a ceasefire.

Israel has violated the U.S.-brokered Gaza ceasefire nearly 500 times in 44 days—killing 342 civilians, including children, women, and the elderly.

That's more than 11 violations every single day.

The genocide never stopped. Palestinians are still being killed.

Donald Trump spent *all night* reposting insane Q-Anon posts about annihilation of Democrats etc. As Ben Meidas says, he should be committed to a mental hospital. He doesn't know what "percent" means. He doesn't know how tariffs work. He shills for Putin in Ukraine. People are dying. #25thAmendment

Someone should make a film using split screen and running totals to compare a day of people who award themselves millions with those who have every drop of blood squeezed out of them, their health exhausted doing essential work. One side: feet on desk, gabbling: Other: torment, sweat & loving care.
SHOCKING: In the first two days of 2025, the CEO of Shell earned more than an average nurse earns in a year.

One saves lives. The other destroys lives.

Anyone else think this is just wrong?

I put a tune to Yeats' poem "The O'Rahilly". Did I mention this before? There's a post about it with guitar chords etc on my blog. But here is my YouTube video direct of the demo. I since found another tune put to the poem, sung by Niamh Dunne on Spotify but it excludes "How goes the weather?" #demo

I can see at least three independent fires raging in the Shatura power plant in the Moscow region. Especially the last explosion in this footage shows a direct hit, causing a huge fireball. I assume that the local natural gas storage was hit.
