José Ramírez’ children’s books are wonderful complements to our study of systems & relationships in the desert & our community. Kids also created an #art piece w/ self portraits placed on a canvas w/our school in the background. Shit’s dark but children are bright lights. #bilingualed #duallanguage

Each child in our classroom community represented themself with an important object to reveal their identity. The background shows the trees, creek, and bridge at our school which are so important to our community. The painting uses bold colors and stylized faces based on José Ramírez’ work.
