Yeah having recently rewatched that film they were WAY too kind to him.

Just gonna focus on how hyped I am for Lorwyn Eclipsed instead of the stuff that bums me out.

The pizza lands are downright repulsive, the five color legends are just effortless value-pile keyword slop, the designs feel like they're all fished from the rejection pile, and we're gonna get a dozen versions of the characters since they're 14 in the whole IP, etc.

If you ever think tech bros are genius elite thinkers who deserve and earned their riches, you should pause and spend six seconds listening to them share their thoughts on basically any topic.

thiel, man, what the fuck are you talking about

He describes the plot of Watchmen, a 1986 graphic novel involving superheroes grappling with moral questions about humanity against the backdrop of impending nuclear war:

The antihero Ozymandias, the antichrist-type figure, is sort of an early-modern person. He believes this will be a timeless and eternal solution – eternal world peace. Moore is sort of a late-modern. In early modernity, you have ideal solutions, ‘perfect’ solutions to calculus. In late modernity, things are sort of probabilistic. And at some point, he asks Dr Manhattan whether the world government is going to last. And he says that ‘nothing lasts forever.’ So you embrace the antichrist and it still doesn’t work.

Thiel later finds biblical meaning in the manga One Piece, discussing how he believes it represents a future where an antichrist-like one-world government has repressed science. He believes that the hero, Monkey D Luffy, represents a Christlike figure.

In One Piece, you are set in a fantasy world, again sort of an alternate earth, but it’s 800 years into the reign of this one-world state. Which, as the story unfolds, gradually gets darker and darker. You sort of realize, in my interpretation, who runs the world and it’s something like the antichrist. There’s Luffy, a pirate who wears a red straw hat, sort of like Christ’s crown of thorns. And then towards the end of the story, transforms into a figure who resembles Christ in Revelation.

Thiel, along with a researcher and writer at Thiel Capital, explored these ideas at greater length in an essay for the religious journal First Things earlier this month.

I'm not even sure I agree with the sentiment, but as I've gotten older I'm not sure there's a more emotionally devastating line in the history of film than Stand By Me ending with: "I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?"

Even if I haven't been wild about the proliferation of UB products in Magic, I've been able to focus on the upsides so far. But man, the TMNT previews are making it a struggle to stay positive.

Been a long time since I’ve smiled that much during a wrestling match. 10/10 no notes.

If this set doesn't give us a Vanilla Ice card I'm boycotting.

Ngl it's pretty funny how the artist here actively seems angry at the very concept of pizza.

I'm not sure I've ever played against a five color deck that wasn't just an effortless slop value pile, and with Michaelangelo ensures that trend will continue.

"It must be hard when brewing to have access to every legal card in the format. We probably should make this commander really strong to make up for it." WotC design, probably.
danaroach.bsky.social
I'm so tired of them putting really strong abilities on five-color commanders because they're "hard" to cast, soemthing that hasn't been true in like a decade, while also making sure they're not hard to cast.

You could tell Nicol Bolas was going to be one of Magic's premiere villains from the jump due to him resting in a big chair and reading. [email protected] has the most viewed Bolas list, an old school old-frame deck leaning into cards as old as the Meditation Realm.

Stephen Miller's statements always lose something when you don't read them in the original German.

Stephen Miller is trying to sell this, which means Stephen miller has someone he needs to sell this to.

There are many reasons to dislike James Comey. But what this administration is doing to him is a travesty of justice and un-American.

I love my co-workers, but I can't imagine a situation where one of them tried to murder someone just because they could, and my only response is to ask them how I can help cover it up.
