From St. Petersburg with Love a #yurionice fanfiction by dancing_on_the_blades

Summary:

When your greatest dream has come true, when you’ve found the one who finishes your duet, the most compelling tale begins.

Yuuri has shown to the world that he can meet Viktor as an equal on the ice. Viktor has found the prince he stopped believing in a lifetime ago. Two hearts, once ready to sacrifice the ice for love, now united on the ice and in love.

Determined to win gold before their wedding, Yuuri is burning to compete against his coach and fiancé, while Viktor is ready to break the shackles of his past with his passion rekindled. Now that the lovers have moved in together in St. Petersburg, nothing finally stands between them and their desire to become rivals. Or so they have thought. For sharing a domestic life and adapting to a foreign country comes with new challenges, and a legacy left behind no longer opens every door. And if that wasn’t already a hell of a lot to deal with, a throwaway comment that was meant to be a joke threatens Yuuri’s stay in Russia.

Will Stay by my side and never leave be all Yuuri and Viktor need to overcome the obstacles life throws in their path, or will Yuuri come to the realisation that he will never be enough for the Russian Hero? An illustration of Yuuri and Viktor from Yuri!!! On Ice. They walk over Tuchkov Bridge towards the rink in think winter clothing, holding hands. Viktor holds Makkachin on the leash. The river is frozen. In the background are buildings with snow-covered roofs and the dome of St. Isaac's Cathedral. The sun is setting behind the buildings and some fluffy orange clouds cover the sky. Cover illustration for my YOI post-canon story "From St. Petersburg with Love", done by @cosmiclionart.

I'm really excited about it doing some fun fandom thing.

That could totally happen to me as well, I just have too many things on my mind. I just hope to have a good time with some other skating fans.

I never did fantasy skating before, I have no idea how it works and I'm likely gonna suck at it, but I've just signed up because it looks like fun.

We're tired of LGBTQ+ content being censored.

Tired of people pretending that being queer or trans is a new "fad", and not something that’s existed, perfectly naturally, for as long as people have been around.

Check out our mission, and join us in fighting censorship. 🏳️‍🌈
⬇️
Rainbow stripes with a white text box over it, and an image below of a person holding the intersectional pride flag over their back. The text box reads: "As a team of two trans (Sapling is nonbinary and Felix is two-spirit!) husbands, we’ve felt exhausted online lately, with censorship closing in on us all. Queer content is being banned, restricted, under fire, and we’re sick of it. So we’re creating something offline, a physical art book, a collaborative community project. Something to give us all hope. Something to connect us through our many cultures, all across the world. With our first zine, “We’ve Always Been Here,” we aim to show just this: that we’ve always been a part of history, and we’ll always be a part of the future too." Rainbow stripes with a white text box, and an image below of two Black men getting close, with one kissing the other on the cheek. The text box reads: "'We’ve Always Been Here' focuses on the 'unseen' queer history of the world. There’s plenty of names we all know of real people who have made their mark: Marsha P. Johnson, Alan Turing, Audre Lorde, Oscar Wilde, Frida Kahlo, and many, many more. But what about those that didn’t ‘go down in history’? What about the woman down the street from your great grandmother, who lived with her ‘best friend’ for decades until she passed? What about the medieval king who kept his lover secret his whole life? What about the cowboys who used the wide, open ranges with no one else around to keep their relationships a secret?" Rainbow stripes with a white textbox, and below are three circular images of two Korean women walking together, two African men laughing as they talk, and two Indian women chatting and laughing. The text box reads: "Our zine focuses on this, on the everyday people that no one knew about, that no one wrote about. The people that modern society wants to pretend never existed. LGBTQ+ people just living their lives, throughout all of history and all of the world. We want to show one simple thing to the world with this collaborative zine: We’ve always been here. And we always will be." Rainbow stripes with a white text box, and below is a colorful image from a pride parade, with rainbow flags waving high into the sky. The text box reads: "How to support our mission. Share us on social media! @TaplingZines on BlueSky, Instagram, and Tumblr. Join our email list! The "cognitive decline and brain damage from repeat COVID infections" and "easy to use robot that makes slop and melts your critical thinking skills" is a hell of a combo in a post-fact media ecosystem

one of the hardest pill to swallow as marginalized person is to realize that your communities are permeated by infights and ppl throw their siblings under the bus in order to either appear "normal" to the privileged or to not get invalidated in their needs & reality by being compared with each other

Every time I send Yuuri and Viktor on a skating date, my old wish to one day go on a skating too, stirs inside me.

A great portion of my writing is wish fulfillment, I write the future I envision for my OTP. But sometimes, it's about living out my personal unfulfilled wishes.

The Runthrough's episode on Lombardia Trophy makes some excellent points on the early-season state of figure skating programmes.

Hehe this warms my heart 💖 I'm very looking forward to screaming together when season 2 comes out!

(and why the hell do I see your comment only now? 😭)

Unpopular skating opinion:

Olympic ice isn't more venerable as other rink ice, skaters don't need to pull out the big guns programme-wise just because it's the Olympic season and are allowed to skate to whatever they want, even if it's the silliest most unhinged stuff the world has ever seen.

The whole point of fanart, fanfics, fanworks, is to make it yourself, as a fan, out of love, passion, spite, horniness—whatever drives and inspires you, as a human, to create. GenAI has no place in fandom, and it's gross and disingenuous to include the usage of it, especially without disclosure,

Maybe when I see him in competition...
