I've finished Medalist! It was such a cute and wholesome anime, I'm glad I gave it a try. The story is so uplifting and gives so much insight into beginner's figure skating--an area I as an avid watcher of seniors know little about. From what I've learned so far, it's done very well.

This interview reminded me why I'm no longer interested in getting involved in the YOI fandom unless I meet someone who maintains a healthy realtionship to our mutual special interest, and those fans tend to be on the periphery like me.

Such comeback cases always makes me think that a rule should exist that skating federations must give their Olympic spots to skaters who earned it or have been active over the last few seasons (not counting timeout due to injury). There certainly is a moral component that ought to be considered.
