"The books in this series have been absolute orgies of comfort reading, brimming with sparkling banter and the kind of heart-rending angst you can drown in." -- @oliviawaite.com on Carrigan's Christmasland
I played spell slot roulette today and lost to now I must take to my bed like Mrs. Bennet.

This rideshare smells like cigarettes + the driver is blasting terrible music, but I'm constitutionally incapable of dropping people's star ratings in the gig economy unless they are actively unsafe.

I just remembered that every year, they had to tell the story about visiting my dad in Tucson for Thanksgiving (they were from Detroit) and him bringing tortillas and salsa to the table to make turkey burritos. As a kid who didn't Understand the Midwest, I didn't get it. Why WOULDN'T you do that?
I miss them very much, but I do not miss the rutabaga.

I'm so tickled by this menu created at Hive Book Arts in Evanston for their book club. It's so thoughtful and fitting for Levi and Hannah. And the napkin holders are BLUE Christmas ornaments 😭

In case anyone wants an extremely 70s Midwestern Grandma stuffing recipe, I give you, Carolyn's:
I present, my husband's grandmother's stuffing recipe, beloved by all the brothers, which I have, for reasons unknown (I guess because I married the eldest??) become the keeper of.

The "dry bread cubes" should be seasoned stuffing mix. The apples are not, IMHO, optional.

Not a single person has replied to my totally hinged DM about writing a romance anthology with one story for every song on August and Everything After. Why will no one collaborate with me on this timely project for which the world is obviously clamoring?

Buy my books they love Hallmark while making fun of it, they're queer+ socialist + they take place right now (well, not my problematic middle child, but we don't talk about Levi) and if you put them together on a shelf they make the bi pride flag!

This is just a reminder that I wrote a trilogy that ends with the icy blond lawyer fiancee, who got dumped for the hot small town tree farmer in the first book, road tripping to the ex's wedding with a fake girlfriend (and there's only one bed).
You can buy all three!

Just a reminder that this cat needs to live in someone else's house! She's probably fine with boy cats or dogs, she just doesn't like other girl cats. I'll drive her as far as OK or AR! Or like for sure anywhere in the Texas triangle!

Pez is one of my favorite humans, and I currently have None Monies so instead I am sharing and encouraging anyone who is less broke to chip in!
You know how you have that friend who just cannot catch a break right now and you really wish you could do just about anything for them? Yeah, that's currently one of my best friends. So once again sharing, because this week has been shit: gofund.me/50a9b0fa1

And I would do anything for love, yes I would do anything for love. I would do anything for love, but I won't do that.
In spite of ourselves
We'll end up a sittin' on a rainbow
Against all odds
Honey, we're the big door prize
We're gonna spite our noses
Right off of our faces
There won't be nothin' but big old hearts
Dancin' in our eyes.

you'd think the forced displacement of 10 million people from one of the oldest centres of civilisation in human history would get a little more news attention than beltway journalists writing essays on how Olivia Nuzzi is a genius because they want to bone her and you'd be wrong

The part where they threatened to break a judge’s car windows should be a bigger story … they feel comfortable treating judges this way, which means they are being told that they can do literally anything to nearly everyone

I'm bagging more whistles up into bags of 250! I have about 1500 right now, and I've got one or two printers just on 24/7 whistle duty now.

If you're part of an org bagging whistles, I will send them to you for free! 💕

A podcast I love is talking about the Lily Allen album and are saying, "can you think of another album that's just about eviscerating one person?" And I'm like NATALIE MAINES IS RIGHT THERE but thankfully there's no way to contact the hosts because Internet strangers don't need to know they're wrong

This is obviously extremely anecdotal and in no way data-driven, but my observation of teaching HS and parenting a 10-year old is, my recent grads love AI, my students use it but don't trust it, and my kid thinks it's cringe trash.

What makes a finale so bad you still talk about it years later (HIMYM), and what makes a finale so bad it single handedly erases the memory of the show from the public consciousness (GoT, Ted Lasso)?

(Brought to you by, I tried to go to sleep and remembered Roy Kent)

I have long said people don't be hatin Chief Justice John Roberts as much as they should be hatin Chief Justice John Roberts
“Roberts has been embedding white-dominant authoritarianism into the country’s source code for two decades. It’s impossible to imagine today’s crisis without the Roberts court having first undermined the foundations of our democracy.”

This all on the leader of the MAGA #scotus ↘️
This is all John Roberts’ fault

TurboTax owner Intuit is also paying OpenAI more than $100 million a year to power AI agents.
