"The books in this series have been absolute orgies of comfort reading, brimming with sparkling banter and the kind of heart-rending angst you can drown in." -- @oliviawaite.com on Carrigan's Christmasland

Usually the line that sticks with me (and the reason I put the soundtrack on, because I'm noodling on a book idea) is "you have to go on living so one of us is living."

Ah-ha but my kid is home with strep so I can cry in peace! (Yay??)
blumagaincurios.bsky.social
I didn't even know I'm was sad until Spike started to sing and I started to cry! My body was just like yeah we've reached max capacity.

Interested acquaintance: how are you holding up with everything?
Me: This morning on the way to work I cried alone in the car because of Rest in Peace from the Buffy musical. So.

But also I knew that friend who told me to write Season of Love from library twitter way back in the day. That's also how I met one of my closest writer friends, who pushed me to stick out the querying process.

All my careers and friends are from Twitter 😭

I tweeted about a book plot + a friend encouraged me to write it. That book got me an agent via dvpit on Twitter. That series made me a USA Today Bestseller.

Also a group of colleagues + I created a training for storytime librarians that's been used around the world. RIP Twitter.

Enjoyed this very much, with a family farm business revolving around holiday and seasonal events, and two people getting to know each other better! Generally avoid holiday-related stories but this one’s a winner. 🥇🌲

If you're celebrating International Lesbian Day, can I recommend doing so with Noelle Northwood, the fat dapper butch dreamboat from Season of Love?
Bonus! The book starts right after Sukkot. It's seasonal!

I highly recommend this one It has fierce femmes and creepy doll transfers and sincere discussions of the different ways we inhabit our queerness and a rich girl/poor girl dynamic without a magical savior.

If you prefer your lesbians less of the "right out of a Hallmark" variety and more of the "ice queen lawyer on a road trip to an ex's wedding with a fake girlfriend" variety, I also have Hers For the Weekend with bonus! Only one bed.

I can't complain about it since I made her up. The only Carrigan's character I get to complain about is Levi because I had nothing to do with that.

It's true there are a lot of creepy dolls in the background of my novels. I blame Miriam.

Sorry to my maligned middle child FN&A, I should have put more lesbians in you.

All of those questions, of, whose votes are missing, what happened to the cultural memory, what does the survivor's guilt do, are things I've been talking to my students about re AIDS for years and I think it's FASCINATING that we both wound up here, having taken wildly different paths.

Elizabeth and I spent a lot of summer of 2020 writing together on zoom when she first started working on this project (I was writing For Never & Always, which is less useful to society as a whole) and I highly recommend listening to her talk about her work.
