We have a running joke in our house because I always look for the third solution to trolley problems. But this is why- there is always another way.

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

📖 Welcome to The Unbanned Book Network!

This is a new program from WNDB designed to break the mold on what children are reading in classrooms while also combatting censorship, which disproportionately targets both diverse books and marginalized authors.

The whole damn system is guilty as hell, from @lollardfish.bsky.social in today’s print edition of the Strib (and on the facing page, letter after letter excoriating ICE and the businesses that prop it up)
Perry: Abolish ICE? How about DHS altogether.
"We have models for how to structure federal immigration oversight that doesn't rely on an unaccountable masked secret police force running rampant in our streets," David M. Perry writes.

Kids read HP still, but not in the same feral numbers. That is how kids lit works, boom and bust. Kids move on. Tell them Dav Pilkey also wrote Captain Underpants and they don’t care because Dog Man is the current thing.

I think about Elijah McClain a lot. How he was a sweet, lovely young soul who used to play the violin for stray cats. How brutally his young life ended and how the State sent riot police to interrupt the violin vigil in his name. The cruelty was always the point.
