I can't make up my mind if Fiona Bruce is a light entertainment host entirely out of her depth and slavishly following orders or whether she is part of the knee-jerk right-wing cabal restricting opinion for blaantly political reasons. Thoughts?

It is embarassing not to see the BBC pulling up Reform leaders claiming that Nathan Gill was just some fan who got photos taken with Farage - he was an MEP for them & their leader in Wales while taking cash from Russia to act against the UK! Literally the very basics of your job to point this out

If anyone doubted that the BBC is deliberately not covering the Russian/Reform bribery scandal, those doubts should have been removed by Fiona Bruce interrupting to prevent it being discussed on BBC Question time last night. #BBCQT

A good year for cricket books. The Cricket Media Club award shortlist is:

Stephen Brenkley – A Striking Summer
Stephen Chalke – One Hell of a Life
Annie Chave – Cricket Changed my Life
Dave Lawrence with Dean Wilson – In Syd's Voice
Leo McKinstry – Bill Edrich
Tim Wigmore – Test Cricket: A History

“Low-level mistake”? I think not. To be fair to Hislop I suspect he will be very angry about the lack of rigger of the scriptwriters. (have tried six times now to get a voice activation to understand “Rigour” but then very few human beings do either

Neither can I. Retirement comes to us all and if it is slightly reluctant, then that tells of many lucky years!

I am always looking for a fool and the money….
davidkhopps.bsky.social
Not really. I just considered the odds of an entertaining match and (as irritating as it was) didn’t even go. 😒 Looking forward to next summer!

i haven't been paid to report on a match for three years... and in the case of the Kookaburra that was a blessed relief! 😁

I would advise against a stake in the hotel 😉

I'm proud to point out that I did an English degree (when not many guys did). I reckon I've spread a little bit of happiness over the past 45 years. And I reckon maybe 50% of the rest have spread more. DO NOT be swayed by this view. Study what you want to study. Total philistines. #philistines

Calling English a 'rip-off degree' is one of the most blatant exhibitions of personal barbarism I've ever seen. You've demonstrated nothing but the poverty of your own mind.

Maybe I will give you guys 20% combined 😉

I never knew my rant in The Cricketer magazine would be so influential 😇

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

Thanks for the intelligent replies. So the burning question is why did that person win?
davidkhopps.bsky.social
Hundreds of village grounds are arguably too small but to potentially put them out of existence without intelligent discussion and professional support is crass. Even at a time when resources are really badly stretched money is still being wasted on pet projects m.

All True, but sites without responses, even passive ones, generally fail.

It was free access when I read it, although maybe that is because I am in Sri Lanka

This is dim, pathetic, low-risk council management from people who have no intelligent idea of the big picture. I am no Telegraph reader, quite the opposite, but when the centre left just ticks this up and does not protest then we are inviting a Reform government www.telegraph.co.uk/cricket/2025...
Angry villagers on council’s ‘mean-spirited, crass decision’ to ban cricket
Danbury, Oaklands and Chelmsford Tuskers fear permanent exile by what they view as ‘crass’ decision driven by health-and-safety timidity
