🧵 So in a break from the gloom I'm gonna share something wonderful:

In 2020, after years of searching, I finally managed to score an original copy of the Sunday Times magazine containing THAT almost mythical 'A Life in the Day of Tom Baker' article...
Vintage Sunday Times magazine. Open on 'A Life in the Day of Tom Baker' article. Featuring a pic of Tom propping up the bar in his favourite old London pub. To the right is an advert for a green Mercedes car. A close up of the picture of Tom in his favourite haunt.

Also I miss his (increasingly but wonderfully absurd) email updates. Sadly I wasn't one of the chosen few out of the paper hat nailed to a tree.

Adding to this week's surrealness, I scored another Bill Drummond book. I'm not a completist, I think he dislikes those, but his visits to under the junction are special to me. I once briefly chatted with his pal (in the old place) while they were there seeing if his paintings floated. Marvelous.
A dark grey book with the title "under the junction" by "Tenzing Scott Brown" A black and white sketch of (and titled) The Head of Poly Styrene

Okay, all sorted with the help of a lovely human. I genuinely love it (not sarcasm) when your phone support person briefly breaks off script and you exchange a few funnies like ol pals. More proof humans simply cannot be replaced with shitty AI.

also I drank far too many coffees

When you've been on the phone to your bank for 30 minutes already and you finally get to the person you apparently need to talk to and the fucking line goes dead. Hahaha. Awesome.

Today is the centenary of the birth of the great Tony Hart who opened the eyes of generations to visual art and who is forever associated with this, the shimmering Gallery theme from Vision On – which was also pretty much everyone’s introduction to the vibraphone. youtu.be/-ZNkJXKV7_w

I'm so sorry, Guy. Words are always lacking but you're in my thoughts.

I met Linnea Quigley once. She was absolutely lovely & signed my vintage french poster. This is not my pic as I'm not entirely sure where my poster is rn 'cause I still haven't framed it, but this variant, which is obvs the best. She was on twitter. It sucks she's not here, like a lot of cool folks.

Hello, it's been the strangest couple of days for reasons I cannot talk about, and I've lined up Return of the Living Dead 1, 2 & 3 to watch because I've a hankering for them. (Well 1 & 3 anyhow). That's what's happening.

Roddy cat brings one of these in almost daily. They usually survive so I rescue and release them. I say "them" but it could just be one really lucky / unlucky critter.

Oh Roddy, you shouldn't have!

I can't watch anything with him in but I'd happily watch anything with you in. Conflicting.

GOOD NEWS! Researchers have developed a cancer vaccine that has shown STUNNING results, PREVENTING up to 88% of MULTIPLE aggressive cancers by harnessing dual-pathway nanoparticles that train the immune system to recognize and destroy tumor cells. In some cases, it COMPLETELY prevented metastasis.

These two big trees have slowly been reaching out to each other over the years, ultimately building an excellent squirrel bypass. #wholesomecontent
